Hi. I need help. I have a 10 year old Windows laptop I want to put back into use.
When I power on the laptop, it never stays on for long. Sometimes 30 to 45 minutes at the most before the system freezes and the noise of the cooling fan get slightly louder. Even knocking the laptop would cause everything to freeze. The only thing I can do at that point is to power off the laptop. Other times the dreaded "blue screen" appears displaying error code before the machine stops and restarts.
I think the issue is hardware, and I had wanted to replace the CMOS battery to see what happens, but then I turned on the laptop for the first time in a long while and a message came up on CMOS battery before the WIN startup screen appeared.
I've read the posting instructions, downloaded the V2 Log collector and its not working on my laptop, at all.
So what are my next steps? Should I go ahead and replace the battery? Its the next bit after I dread doing. Restarting BIOS?
HP Pavilion g56-130sa
Thanks!
