Come home to find my computer had rebooted itself.

So, I come home and find my computer had rebooted itself. So I skimmed though the System Event Viewer and found what I think is the problem. But it's in cryptic M$ code of course...

Oh and this is Windows 10 Ver 20H2 (OS Build 19042.928)

Ok, so, updated everything, I am now running Win 10 21h1 OS build 19043.1052. I ran OCCT, short data set, and it was doing good, CPU no higher than 65 Tdie and 87 Tctl , GPU was holding around 45 ish. After about 10 min the monitors shut off, the keyboard went off (no lights), the lights on the mouse went off except the red laser. But the computer acted like it was still running. Front fans running, power light on, no drive activity though, and no response to me wiggling the mouse. Pressing the reset button did nothing. Had to long press the power button to shut it down and restart it. Nothing in the Event Log except a "Unexpected shut down" error. Appears the free version of OCCT doesn't log anything neither. So I don't know, temps seem to be under critical.

Check the CPU cooler, change the thermal grease. It is also good to check if it is similar on another power supply

Yeah... It's been on my radar to replace it. I got the H110I back when I prepurchased the Ryzen 1700 X . Odd as it seems to be holding at around 35 to 45 C most times so it seems to be working just fine?

No dumps in your zip file.

The System Event log entry is:

    Code:
    Event[889]:
      Log Name: System
      Source: Microsoft-Windows-WHEA-Logger
      Date: 2021-06-20T14:49:13.0430000Z
      Event ID: 18
      Task: N/A
      Level: Error
      Opcode: Info
      Keyword: N/A
      User: S-1-5-19
      User Name: NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE
      Computer: Nyeri
      Description:
A fatal hardware error has occurred.

    Reported by component: Processor Core
    Error Source: Machine Check Exception
    Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
    Processor APIC ID: 9

The details view of this entry contains further information.
If you get another one of these and iIf you are over-clocking or over/under-volting your system then reset everything to nominal and see if the problem happens again. If not then start tweaking a little at a time and test after each change for several days to see if the problem returns.

Hmm. I think it's on auto when it comes to overclocking, will have to check that. As for the zip file, I created that with the official tool I downloaded from the 10 Forums. So what ever it gathered and zipped up is what I uploaded without editing.

Update, after two more reboots I finally got off my lazy arse and tweaked the bios. I * think * have Auto Tune turned off, at least it says it's back to 3.4Ghz from 3 .77 Ghz. At least atm Task Manager -> Performance says it's 3.46 with a base of 3.40. Also the memory tune was on Auto as well, set it to DOCP - Standard . Now we'll see if it continues to do it. If so then it's onto getting a can of air and blasting the snot out of the radiator and fans and hope for the best. >.<

Good luck. You can do manual tweaking, a little at a time. Not in my area of expertise as I've never done any. I've never built a system.
