Frequent DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSODs along with freezing beforehand

    Hello all,

I am new to the forum and am currently experiencing several random freezes along with BSODs. The BSOD that pops up appears to be related to the watchdog timer (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION). I understand that this means that the timer is being overloaded or overwhelmed, but I'm not sure what is causing it. The BSOD seems to be trigged when browsing the web. I have tried updating drivers and checking Windows Update to no avail.

After analyzing the latest dump file with the WinDbg tool, this is the end result. I have used the snipping tool to show portions of the dump file, but if you would like more information from it, please let me know.

    Thanks.

    Hi, comtech121.

Did you also install NVIDIA display card in your PC?

If yes, I encountered this the same BSOD, too.

I saw NVIDIA community and then it seemed like NVIDIA driver 466.63 bug.

Please you could downgrade NVIDIA driver to 466.47 or under and tried again.

Thanks for the help. I checked the NVIDIA boards that you mentioned. After scrolling through the forum, I ended up going to their drivers section and downgraded my display driver to version 466.27. So far my desktop appears to be running smoother, with no freezing or crashes. I will keep an eye on it but will mark this issue as solved for now. Thanks again!
