    BSOD / HDMI cable change????


    This is stupid but...
    The only changes I've made recently
    installed spotify, installed amazon music. Used them all Friday with no problem (today being Monday) Used my pc on Saturday some, left it up all night/day. I almost never shut it down.

    Last night I shut it down and unplugged one of the monitors because I needed a cable. Plugged it back in this a.m. and fired it up. Worked fine for 30 minutes and now it's freezing up. Machine error / bsod.

    If I uplug the one HDMI the pc seems to work OK. I've uploaded the BSOD due to 5 crashes this morning.
    ALSO: I am told sometimes that my memory is not correct or matched to the board but it works just fine. (yes yes it's not 'working just fine' right now but I use this PC a lot including taxing the resources gaming and having video running etc...)

    Video card is semi-old and is updated as is everything. 19042.928

    EDIT: This is just stupid but my PC has been up for 4 hours now. The only difference is that I don't have the 2nd monitor plugged. I don't know what to but that maybe I hurt the vid card when I plugged/unplugged the HDMI cable...but I really don't think I did. I'd plug the 2nd monitor in to see what happens but last time I did that I had to reboot 2 or 3 times for my PC to work and I'm working so ~ ~ ~

    If Windows says "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA", you most likely have RAM corruption. Please power down and reseat the RAM. If you ever got the above-mentioned stop code and it keeps occurring after reseating the RAM, then it's most likely a bad RAM slot, a bad trace on the motherboard to the CPU IMC or a bad LGA socket pin for the CPU IMC.

    (most likely, for especially LGA 1366)

    I had the above-mentioned stop code (but from Windows 7, since I never used 10 to this date on a 1366) with the black RAM slots, but currently not with the normal slots, with my Asus P6T6 WS Revolution.

    I never did with the Asus P6T Deluxe! Which I replaced by mistake, because I thought it was bad, when it wasn't!

    Good! I regretted changing the motherboard, because I replaced it because of BIOS wackiness that seemed out of this planet when my Radeon RX 580 is installed. (CMOS settings lost when unplugged, even with a good CR2032 battery! Only happens with RX 580, at least that XFX one that I have!) But I got rid of it, because I decided to get the P6T6 WS Revolution and then pull so hard just to get the Asetek AIO backplate off of the P6T Deluxe, that I considered it potentially damaged!

    But with the same XFX Radeon RX 580, the exact same thing with the P6T6 WS Revolution. The only thing different that I noticed, was that I couldn't use any of the auxiliary slots that I could with the P6T Deluxe! So that means I couldn't use the original 6 GB of triple channel+a Corsair module that brought it to 10 GB, when I was able to before, even at "1333" and 9-9-9-24! That had me stumped!

    So in, the GeForce GTX 970 goes! (Maxwell) The BIOS never acts like that with the GeForce GTX 970.

    For me needlessly changing the motherboard, mea culpa!

    I am pretty cheap...and this PC, though old, works very everything I do except when it just doesn't work...It never seems to be a permanent problem. I reboot and reboot and post for help here and then it just starts working again. Powering down this PC seems to be the worst thing I can do to it! Normally I don't but I was being ultra-careful because I was unplugging something.

Per the title, I run my computer through my TV using an HDMI cable. Sound works brilliantly on Windows 8.1 but after upgrading to Windows 10, I'm left without audio, and in the sound settings it doesn't show HDMI as an available device. Ideas?
