New win 10 build, BSOD on the reg

    OS Win 10 Version 20H2
MOBO: ASROCK B550 Steel Legend, updated bios 3/28/21
RAM: 16GB GSkill Ripjaws, Two 8GB sticks
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X, wraith cooler
GPU: MSI Nvidia GT 710, passive cooler
STORAGE: 250GB kingston SSD System Drive, 1TB Samsung SSD data drive, 1TB Hitachi HDD for backup
PERIPHERALS: TI Firewire PCI card to run an audio interface. Two USB MIDI controllers
    CASE: ISTARUSA 3u server case

    ---------

    Various BSOD incidents
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL dxgmms2.sys+92d0
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA ntoskrnl.exe+3f5c50
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ntoskrnl.exe+3f5c50
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ntoskrnl.exe+3f5c50
    DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER ntoskrnl.exe+3f5c50

    ---------

    Steps I've taken so far:

    -Tested each ram stick individually
    -Unplugged data and backup drives
    -Ran Memtest 86, no errors
    -Updated bios 3/28/21
    -Updated GPU drivers 3/10/21
    -Update windows regularly
    -Unplug MIDI devices
    -Ran with case lid off
    -Monitor temps with HWINFO

    ---------

    Hunches, IRL conditions:
I packed this build into a 3u server case, so I thought maybe heat was the issue. HWINFO indicates cpu usually rests around 40 degrees and spikes at 70 degrees even in heavy daw sessions with the case lid on. GPU usually sits around 55 degrees. I've gotten GPU up to 61 degrees running youtube in fullscreen on each monitor. Temps sound reasonable to me.

I know DAWs and VSTs can be sketchy, but I'm getting crashes even when none of that stuff is plugged in, powered on, or running.

Nearly all my recent crashes are addressed to ntoskrnl.exe+3f5c50. Is there any signifigance to that?

Recent crash was attributed to DX. I don't have another graphics card to test with, and I've already updated drivers. I have also updated BIOS.

    Thank you for your help!

Windows update says the system is up to date

NVIDIA drivers are up to date. Device manager says driver date is 3-10-21

I thought that AMD drivers had been installed, but device manager says my processor drivers are from Microsoft and are dated 4-21-09

When installing updated AMD drivers, the installation process finished and then crashed before I could restart. After rebooting, the processor drivers still show the MS drivers from 2009.

Tried running the AMD installer again and BSOD mid install.

Can install the drivers in safe mode?

Thank you for your help, I truly appreciate it!BSOD During AMD Install.txt

    Test using your on-board video.

    If no on-board, more here.

    Jmatt: Thanks for the link...

No onboard graphics in this build, so I'm committed to this GT710. Drivers are up to date

    Working through the suggestions:

Can't run the amd installer in safe mode. Get an error message 'the installer is intended to be deployed only on an AMD System'. Go figure, lol. I've read a lot of forum and reddit posts about people having issues with AMD chipset drivers. I'm starting to regret this ryzen build.

Updating chipset drivers with the 'search automatically for updated driver software' function just leads me back to the 2009 MS drivers.

I've already checked the ram multiple times, seems to be fine.

already ran sfc /scannow. It said it made some repairs. Should I run it again?

Haven't ran chkdsk in a minute, I'll do that again.

Beyond that, i'm down to uninstalling software and going down the driver verifier rabbit hole. I'm thinking i just need to commit to driver verifier at this point.

And lastly, as previously stated, windows update says the system is up to date.

"I'm starting to regret this ryzen build"
That's what I use, nil problems.

Run Snail & upload a SS ( screenshot ) of what it finds, don't install any drivers.

"That's what I use, nil problems."
Good to hear, that is encouraging! I ran a Phenom 955 hard for years, and it was always stable, so I'll keep the faith.

Rain SnailDriver, it indicates PCI Bus and Realtek PCIe are issues. SS attached.

    Thanks again.

I would click Snail update & test.

Whilst waiting for a test result, upload these logs.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it onto your Desktop. If your default download location is not your Desktop, drag it out of it's location onto the Desktop.
    Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
If we have to run Farbar more than once, refer this SS.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the Desktop.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt) on the Desktop.
The logs are large, upload them using this. No time delays/Captcha-I'm not a Robot/account/registration needed. Give us the links please.

I skimmed over the logs just out of curiosity, and it's got me wondering about all sorts of things. Look forward to some further insight.

That's a good sign for me, from your skill level side of things.
Scroll down to in Addition > Faulty Device Manager Devices.
Does that still need dealing with?
