    Allo! Sorry for the late reply an me being quiet, I've been so busy, you honestly wouldn't believe it! So I've decided to admit defeat. I'm gonna use Laplinks PC Mover software and import my old installation into the new one. Thanx for all yer help an patience...

    Thanks for the update - I agree - you didn't give up without a fight though, I have never seen anyone put so much effort into trying to rescue a system. Once you have transferred all you need you can probably go back and fix it with a clean install.

    Yea well, it'd be workin now if it wasn't for that problem with windows update! Y'know, if the reg backup hadn't been deactivated by Microsoft, all this could've been avoided! Balmy...

    For laplink what are their installation / boot requirements?
    Were you in Windows RE?

    Please use the Microsoft feedback hub for regback.
    This happens to many end users.
    Unfortunately it's one at a time.
    However the more that send feedback the better.
