So, I would do a clean install of Windows 10. Make sure everything seems to be working good with a clean install. Then you can attempt to restore only the C: drive partition from the backup to replace the C: drive partition created by the new install. You might then need to do a startup repair to get it to boot.
Or
Do the clean install of Windows 10. Shrink the C: drive partition as much as possible. Restore the C: drive partition to the newly created empty space, then set up dual booting. Once you get dual booting working, then you could delete the clean install partition and expand your old system to fill the empty space.
