    BSOD on windows 10 laptop (first post)

    Hi guys.

    Here's a dropbox link to the zipfile: Dropbox - _zipIt.rar - Simplify your life

    I've been having some bluescreens occasionally the past month or so. Before this, a bluescreen would happen regularly and i even sent the laptop (which is max 9 months old) back and they couldnt find anything.

    I hope the zipped file is enough for anyone here to find out whats going wrong :).

    Thanks a lot!

    (if the dropbox link doesnt work, i can also just attach the file)

    Hello mvanrooij and welcome to TenForums

    The process of collecting the logfiles for us did not work. The commonest reason for this is that the BSOD Posting instructions are not followed precisely. Please ensure that you extract the downloaded zip file (V2-Log-collector-1.10) to a folder on your Desktop or in Documents. Open that newly created folder and run the log collector shortcut from there. At the end of the process a new folder will be created on the Desktop. That is the folder which needs to be uploaded into your post.

    Thanks! The crash dumps do not reveal very much to help in this case.

    I can see that you have a number of graphics card problems causing errors which get corrected and probably give you a temporary freeze or black screen.

    The most recent crash was possibly hardware related as well.

    I would start by testing your memory with memtest86 and report back if it detects any errors at all. There should be a screen summarising the test results that you can capture and post. Please run at least 4 passes and preferably 8 passes by running twice in succession so that the RAM modules stay warm and under stress.

    I see. thanks for the help. When i run memtest, should i be doing anything on my laptop at that point (like id normally do?) or just leave it on and let it run? any approximation on the duration if you run it 4 times twice?

    This test is best run overnight - you can't use it while the test is running - so you may not be awake when it finishes. If you time one of the passes you will get an idea how long it will take to run all four passes. Of course if errors show up at any time you can stop the test because it shows you have a problem.

    Cool, thanks. i have 2 16GB sticks. should i just run the test multiple times on each stick seperately?

    I actually found some people online who have the exact same problem and have also tried everything imaginable. and they claim its definitely not a RAM issue;

    He mentioned it crashing while being on YT for example, which just happened to me 5 min ago. i think you also mentioned that it might just be a graphics card issue.

    There is certainly something going on with the AMD CPUs and associated motherboards. I see far more problems with them in recent months. It may be down to requiring very specific timings for the memory to cope with the power saving functionality of the system. Hopefully you can follow the progress online and find a fix.
