    Random Restart On New Build

    Greetings, friends. I recently put together a new system (RTX 3090, AMD 5900X, Seasonic 850 PSU, X570 MB) on a Windows 10 Pro system. Everything is new, including M.2, and RAM).

    I'm not getting a BSOD, but I am randomly restarting, so I'm concern it may be a hardware problem. The 1st time it happened was after I ran a Heaven benchmark. It completed, but shortly after exiting the program, my system restarted. Afterwards, I ran some benchmarks on select games, but the problem didn't repeat itself, so I couldn't really see if there was any power spikes.

    Moments ago, I had a restart while typing up an e-mail. No blue screen or error message in either restarts. How do I begin troubleshooting this? I attached the report.

    Many thanks, friends. Take care.

    1. This app has crashed
    Razer Synapse 3.5.1215.121019 Razer Inc.
    Here is the report
    AppName=GameManagerService
    AppPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer\Razer Services\GMS\GameManagerService.exe
    UI[2]=C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer\Razer Services\GMS\GameManagerService.exe
    UI[5]=Close
    UI[8]=GameManagerService stopped working and was closed
    UI[9]=A problem caused the application to stop working correctly

    2. I am unable at this stage to identify if that is the cause of the problems

    3. However the simple test is to uninstall the Razer program

    4. There is also a report of an apparent hardware error

    Event[3373]:

    A fatal hardware error has occurred.

    Reported by component: Processor Core
    Error Source: Machine Check Exception
    Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
    Processor APIC ID: 4

    5. However that may not be the processor itself, it could be another component - ram for instance.

    6. Try the Razer uninstall first.
    TEST IT until you either get a restart OR you are satisfied it is not going to restart.

    7. If that does not stop the restarts - reinstall that software

    8. Then ensure there is NO overclock settings on either the MSI OC facility
    MEG X570 ACE
    Or in firmware
    and ensure you install the latest chipset drivers from your motherboard site if you have not already done so
    AMD Chipset Driver
    Version
    2.10.26.336
    Release Date
    2020-12-11
    File Size

    from here
    MSI Global

    9. You have the latest BIOS - I am sure you would not do so, but just in case you are not aware do NOT try and flash to the later offered BETA BIOS

    10. I will carry out a further examination of the logs when you post the results.

    Thank you for looking into this. I attached another file. System restarted about 1 minute after Heaven was closed after completing a benchmark. Didn't restart during the benchmark. I am going to go over your suggestions shortly. Going to run another Heaven test to see if I can continue to replicate the results.

    Finished up. I ran about 12 Heaven benchmarks before your suggestion. After the restart I mentioned in my last post, I haven't had a restart since. I posted that log in the last comment I made. I did uninstall Razer for about 12 hours and let my PC run over night and didn't see a restart. No OC settings are enabled. I'll double check that in a moment. I use the Dragon Center software to update chipset, but I don't recall if chipset is one of the items that the software updates, so I installed the chipset directly from MSI this morning. I do have the latest BIOS installed as well.

    I know AMD has some odd thing going on with memory. But that's a bit over my head. Is it safe to assume it isn't GPU or PSU related?

    You have confused me a little
    I said
    9. You have the latest BIOS - I am sure you would not do so, but just in case you are not aware do NOT try and flash to the later offered BETA BIOS
    and you NOW say
    I do have the latest BIOS installed as well.
    So I confirmed from your logs that you have the latest available BIOS - other than a BETA version released
    So on the logs you have
    7C35v1C
    Release Date
    2020-11-04

    There is however a beta version released AFTER that
    Version
    7C35v1D5(Beta version)
    Release Date
    2020-12-30

    What I was saying was YOU had the latest known stable version - please DO NOT install the beta version.

    Regarding the
    Finished up. I ran about 12 Heaven benchmarks before your suggestion
    IMHO that is way over the top - I think you should bear in mind that like many other stress testers for GPU
    Heaven Benchmark is a GPU-intensive benchmark that hammers graphics cards to the limits
    they are to be used with extreme caution and whilst I am not familiar with Heaven running 12 stress tests is NOT good practice. You will never reach the limits you place on that GPU on stress tests with normal use even with a relatively heavy overclock. You are by running 12 stress tests driving it to a limit that it was never meant to reach.

    I will wait for your confirmation that you no longer have the restarts. or that you do and if the latter I will examine the new log - good luck with it a nice system.

    Apologies for the confusion. At the time I posted, my BIOS was update to date with he most recent non-beta BIOS. So, I was just confirming that I was using the latest non-beta BIOS.

    Today is the 1st crash I received. I was not doing anything specific. I attached the log here.

    Copy these 3 files to your Desktop then zip them and upload the zip here or if to big, upload to a file sharing site like OneDrive and post a link here. I'd like to look at the dumps.
