Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart

    Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.19041 Build 19041

I know there are plenty of threads on this. I just bought a new PC Specialist Tornado R5 Gaming PC and it's BSOD'd me twice already! And both times I wasn't pushing the graphics card to the limit.

    AMD Ryzen 5
    NVidia GTX 1660

Is there something I need to do such as:

    1. It's probably something simple like I need an update, or
    2. Send that thing straight back and get a refund!

    Help.

The thing restarted yesterday for no reason and it was an update for Microsoft Edge. I turned that off for 18 hours a day though in the setting for active hours.

I also bought a cheap bootleg DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor so I could connect it to my TV as well, and this was working great for a while until it didn't and I'm worried I might have fried the DisplayPorts on my Graphics Card now. (something to do with with Pin20 or something). Tried lots of things last night to see if I could isolate the problem and I think it's either a faulty adaptor or the adaptor broke the graphics card. Hopefully the chances of that happening are slim; I manged to get some video out of one of the DPs using it to my monitor after that while it was booting, but then it disappears which suggest to me the port is still working. Sorry I know this is another issue.

Read the BSOD posting instructions at the top of the page on how to collect and post the needed logs.

Right I think I've done this right, zip file should be attached.

p.s a small, slightly pedantic point on the wording on that thread.

"unless instructed to do so you should use the new V2 Collector"

I think it should read "instructed not to"? Otherwise it's a double positive. Unless the meaning is "unless instructed to do so you should NOT use the new V2 Collector"?

If you see what I mean, it's confusing (to me anyway)

    Anyone?

OK noone seems to be there so I've taken this file down for security reasons. If anyone fancies taking a look at it then let me know, thanks.

Really? You expect people to immediately go through multiple logs that quickly?

There is no personal information in those files and nothing that can pose a security threat. If you actually want people to help you, leave the file where it is. It might take hours, it might take days to get a response.

Ok then. I don't know what's involved and I don't know what information about my system I'm putting up, therefore paranoia.

Here it is again. Of course I'm not expecting anyone to jump and help me instantly and appreciate any time anyone takes to look into this for me. I have reattached the file above.

It just BSODed me again, in the middle of watching Netflix. After some heavy gameplay earlier.

I can't be having this, because ultimately I want to use this for illustration work. I can't have this thing conking out on me and I end up losing 2 hours work.

I can have this thing back and a full refund from VISA any time I want within the next three months, unless it's just a simple fix?

Honestly though? After a few days and so many problems already I'm leaning towards the lines of VISA cover.

And there it goes again. After the last two 2/3 hours ago. All I did was watch Netflix and in the middle of a film it suddenly goes BSOD and shuts down. Only this time when I turn it back on again now I can't connect to the internet! I've tried what you usually do when internet goes down but I can't see any way to fix this. I could only find troubleshooting, and when I went through that option it came back and told me my ethernet cable was disconnected. I'm using wifi, two antenna actually. I screwed both in that came with it. Could that be the cause of this?

That's it off the internet permanently now (unless I can find an ethernet cable) can't find any way in the settings to reconnect the wifi, or even any way to fix this. Restarted multiple times, I can't get it to connect back to my router. I can't even find a way to try to connect to it. A window that might have options disappearing off the corner of the screen maybe. Total screwball festival.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Might help at this stage if I had some more insight into the problem before this rainbow coloured monolith goes back via credit card insurance.

What a mess of a OS! Is the the new normal, or just my bad luck with this machine. I'm going round in circles going stir crazy here. I click on the globe in the bottom right and it opens up a small window and the only thing to click is Network & Internet Settings, I open that window and the only thing I can see to click on is Show available networks and it just opens up the Network & Internet Settings again. I'm going round in circles getting nowhere, on a brand new computer that just won't connect to the internet now!

OK so one last thing I decided to try was to shut it down, and turn the power off and disconnect it from the power supply for 15 seconds. Then I turned it back on and the internet came back on right away as if nothing had ever happened. WTAF is that all about????

Honestly I bought a cheap Lenovo a few years ago and it just worked for nearly 4 year, asides from a few issues now I had no problems. This thing for the past week has just been one thing after the other!

Is it ever going to end and just work like it's supposed to?

    Hi STU9000 ,

New computers should not have BSOD.

If you want to keep this computer then you could start testing RAM.

Again, you should not have this burden with a new computer.

Please consider Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).

I don't know how new "new" is.

MSInfo error reports show several games are throwing errors.

    Forza Horizon

    Lunar Flight

    Miasmata

One thing I noticed in the logs is it appears you are running an older 32-bit version of the Steam client, which was involved in one of the BSODs.

In this instance it would be a return and/or replacement I'm looking for. No one wants a repair on something they just bought. Faulty at manufacture is not the kind of footing I want to get off on with a new computer. Also, repairs at PC World are taking weeks these days. The guy in the shop told me to take insurance because if it's not repaired within a week they'd have to give me a new one. I think a have a strong argument for getting a replacement, but how that is going to work with me being out in the sticks with no transportation other than a bike..

I think I've still got some time to consider my options at this stage.

There wasn't any option to choose a version of the Steam client when I downloaded it, so I just assumed it would default to the right one.

Forza is on the Xbox client, which has been more problematic than Steam. It was already installed. I've not experienced any major issues with the two games I've played on there so far, apart from Halo and those issues we're mainly with the client. Enormous download for Halo, which initially started off (I thought) as downloading the whole pack (134GB). This wasn't clear and so I left it downloading overnight only to get up in the morning to find only Halo 1 had downloaded, and despite the fact I had left it set not to go to sleep the computer did anyway. I then went for Halo 4 (newer and better graphics) and the client was all over the place with regards to what the current stage in the download was; hard to explain but I was totally lost at that point as to whether I was downloading one game of the whole box set and at one point it was saying something like 90GB downloaded of 70GB or something like that. Might have been a BSOD that caused that? Now when I try to play Halo 4 from the Games Pass it says there is an error, so I have to click on the game directly through another page. It's also really slow to quit and return to the desktop, but other than that no issues while in gameplay with any games.

Lunar Flight and Miasmata are on Steam and no record of any issues playing with them.

All I can do is just keep watching this space, what a disappointment. Taking my mind back to my youth when I got a Commodore 64 for Xmas from Currys and the graphics card was broken, only I didn't realise for months and thought the grainy screen was normal. I hope all these BSODs aren't causing damage to the hardware?

Just return it. Don't explain anything in detail; just say it crashes/blue screens.

I think this is the only course of action I have left at this moment. It just crashed again, for the 6th time now. All I did was browse the web and watch Netflix.
