BSOD whilst trying to complete W10 2004 feature update

    Hey guys,

My PC and the 2004 update aren't getting along. I've tried to update it twice today, and both times it's had a BSOD during the 'restart and install' phase. My system doesn't get BSOD's in normal operation.

    I'm currently on Windows 10 Pro, version 1909, and I've done a sfc /scannow.

Could you guys help me through troubleshooting this? I don't know where to start.

I've attached the log collector files.

    Bug Check 0x9C: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION

The MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION bug check has a value of 0x0000009C. This bug check indicates that a fatal machine check exception has occurred

    Code:
    MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION (9c)
A fatal Machine Check Exception has occurred.

    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000000
    Arg2: ffff970184520c50
    Arg3: 0000000000000000
    Arg4: 0000000000000000
    Attachment 296911

    Remarks

In Windows Vista and later operating systems, this bug check occurs only in the following circumstances.

    • WHEA is not fully initialized.
    • All processors that rendezvous have no errors in their registers.

For other circumstances, this bug check has been replaced with bug Check 0x124: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR in Windows Vista and later operating systems.

Looks to be a CPU hardware error which seems amazing to me since it runs fine on the 1909 build. Something odd going on here.

According to windbg you have BIOS version 1.7 which is from
    BIOS Version V1.7
    BIOS Release Date 05/28/2015

Attachment 296912 Web site says it was released in 2014.

They have a version 1.D which was released in 2016.

Sorry, I should have been clearer, I've updated to BIOS 1.9 since I did that dump thingy, my bad.

However, windows update isn't showing me the 2004 update anymore. I double checked by running winver, and I'm still on version 1909. Is there a way to get the update to show again besides waiting? I can't check if there's any improvement until it offers me the update again.

Update: I'm using the Windows update assistant (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10) to try and get the update manually. I'll see if this lets me try the update again.

    1) Download and install: Everything
    voidtools

    2) search for Setupmem.dmp > if found post a share link using one drive, drop box, or google drive

    3) Run tuneup.bat
Batch files for use in BSOD debugging

    4) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings

    a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery window into the thread

    b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > on the performance options window > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory window into the thread

    5) Run setupdiag
