various different BSOD on new PC build

I built a PC a little more than a week ago. Within the first few days, I was having recurring issues with blue screens, seemingly a different error every time. Some of the errors I recall are System_Service_Exception, Critical_Process_Died, Kernel_Mode_Head_Corruption, Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area. The blue screens did not occur during gaming, but I believe one or more occurred when installing programs or attempting to transfer files. On at least one occasion my PC blue screened immediately after waking from sleep, and another time it simply would not wake at all and I had to power off to reboot.

I fought with this for a few days and after running Driver Verifier got stuck in an endless boot to BSOD loop. However, it seemed to be pointing to a device driver for a Focusrite audio interface I had installed (What failed: focusriteusbaudio.sys). I had set up a restore point before running Driver Verifier so I used that to restore Windows and then uninstalled the device and drivers.

After doing this, I had no errors for around a week. Then, today upon attempting to wake my PC from sleep, it began a Windows update. During the update, I received a blue screen, Critical_Process_Died. After the blue screen the update finished and Windows seemed to boot normally. Shortly after, again on waking from sleep, the PC displayed a message "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart in one minute" followed by another BSOD, this time System_Service_Exception (What failed: Ntfs.sys)

Yesterday you had a fatal hardware error which probably was the reason your system did not wake up since it happened during the early hours of the morning.

    Code:
Event[4038]: Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-WHEA-Logger
    Date: 2020-09-07T01:09:25.0200000Z
    Event ID: 1
    Task: N/A
    Level: Error
    Opcode: Info
    Keyword: WHEA Error Event Logs
User: S-1-5-19 User Name: NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE
    Computer: DESKTOP-0MVTDG2
Description: A fatal hardware error has occurred. A record describing the condition is contained in the data section of this event.
At the moment I can't tell which hardware component triggered this.

Begin by testing your SSD and HDD drives. There are various ways of doing this using diagnostic tools such as HDTune, Seatools, Crystal Disk etc.

    Diagnostics Test

     HDD TEST

    Note   Note
Please run HDTune first, in the order posted!

    Run HDTune to
    • check the health,
    • scan for errors, not quick scan but full scan
    • run a benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following
    • the health,
    • the error scan,
    • the benchmark incl. following
      • transfer rate,
      • access time,
      • burst rate,
      • cpu usage.

Thank you for the reply! I will run HDTune today. My PC also did not wake from sleep again today. I made a new log file if it may be of any use.

You did not have a repeat of the hardware error I found logged on the 7th. The critical process died bugcheck is a difficult one to debug. It is often due to hardware malfunction so it will be interesting to see the results of the tests.

Run Memtest86 version 8.4 (or newer version if available) for four passes.
Repeat the test so that eight passes are performed.

MemTest86 - Official Site of the x86 Memory Testing Tool

Use a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post images into the thread.
In case there are any problems uploading images use share links (one drive, drop box, or google drive)

Memtest86 has a feature to produce a text report.
Please post this in addition to the images.

When windows driver verifier was used which link was used?
How many customized test settings were used?

This is the procedure I followed for Driver Verifier:

I will report back with the Memtest results.

    For Memtest86 please post:
    a) images
    b) text reports

Starting with these settings has few performance problems, slow boot, or boot loops:

I ran 8 passes on Memtest, not seeing any errors. Attached below are photos, I am unsure how to access the text report. At the end of both tests, I selected "yes" to save an HTML report, but I'm unsure how to access this report now. The USB drive is not showing up in Explorer.

I also started running Driver Verifier with those settings you provided. After rebooting, no blue screen, unlike my previous experience with Verifier. Now to wait and see if I receive a blue screen.

    For Windows driver verifier:
    a) increase the number of customized test settings by 3 - 5 / hour up to the 19 displayed in the Microsoft link.
    b) report any performance problems or very slow boot and customized settings can be modified.

    For any BSOD:

    a) run the V2 log collector to collect new log files

    b) open file explorer> this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
    > if the file size is < 1.5 GB then zip > post a separate share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive
