PC freezes while not gaming

Can you please perform the following [ this checks for ANY Problem Device Errors ] . . .

[1] Goto this TenForums link => Batch Scripts / Programs.
[2] Goto the heading Find ANY Problem Devices . . .
[3] Download and Run the .bat file.

If there are ANY Problem Device Errors it will create a Prob_Devices.txt file on the Desktop!

[4] Upload the results [ if any ] => How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums.

Paul, you can look at the msinfo32 in the msinfo32.nfo file in the zip file uploaded and see there are no problem devices. No need to download or run that particular bat file3.

There is a dump in the zip from the 15th. Old but maybe it's useful. It indicates a problem with the Nvidia driver:

You have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. The dump says the driver is from Feb 19 2020 but the data in the zip says it's May 14 2020 446.14 . I'm guessing you updated the Nvidia driver sometime after the 6/05 BSOD happened.

Driver version 451.48 2020/06/24 is now available on the Nvidia web site. Suggest using DDU to uninstall the current driver then download and install the new version, see if that helps.

Remove and install latest Nvidia drivers:

Get the latest driver for your Nvidia card here: NVIDIA Driver Downloads
Completely uninstall the current Nvidia display drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from WagnardMobile here: Official Download Here. Do this in Safe Mode.

Then do a custom install of only the Nvidia Graphics and PhysX driver.

See if that gets rid of the problem.

The reason I posted that was because for some reason I couldn't open the file so I obviously didn't see that!

Did you unzip the zip file first? I always do, some don't and I was able to open it okay.

Just checked again and it's definitely the one from the zip I'm opening as it says BaseBoard Product ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING
which is definitely not my system.

Just tried opening it from inside the zip and that opened okay also.

Does assoc return the same as I get from a Command Prompt window?

Very strange. I just downloaded it again and I can open it this time, oh well!
