Getting occasional BSOD gaming - SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

    Hi there,

First time posting so apologies for any mistakes.

I'm getting BSODs occasionally while running games and once or twice while trying to load up a game.

I did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro using the reset pc functionality built into Windows, have installed all Windows updates and drivers (including lastest graphics driver), running a legit copy of Windows. I also updated my BIOS to the latest version.

This solved some of my issues and has reduced the frequency of BSOD but they are still occurring. For example, I couldn't get more than a few mins into an Apex Legends game without a crash. Now that game has not crashed in an hour or so of playing.

It does not seem to be related to the 'intensity' of gaming or graphical settings. For example 'For the King' has given me a BSOD, but then so has 'Destiny 2' or 'The Outer Worlds' sometimes when nothing is really happening in terms of in-game action. Some games seem fine, for example, 'League of Legends' has not BSOD once while running but has a couple of times when I have tried to open the client/launcher.

I will attach here the zip of my log as requested in the posting instructions. Attachment 276968

Looking in my minidump folder I only have 2 dumps (2 BSOD since fresh Windows install). I assume this will be in the zip?

I have looked at the errors in WinDbg but honestly, I don't know much of what I'm looking at. I know my way around code and computers but not sure how to debug these errors so any help would be greatly appreciated.

My core pc specs if helpful:
Mobo: MSI B450 Tomohawk (latest BIOS)
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (3.6ghz)
GPU: GeForce RTX 2070 Super (Palit Jetstream)
    RAM: 2x 8GB Corsair DDR4 3200Mhz
Storage: Sabrent Rocket SSD NvMe 1TB
Edit - OS: Windows 10 Pro

Once again, any help greatly appreciated! Happy to post more info as needed.

Yes, the minidumps should be collected by the app
In this case they are both STOP 0x7E BSOD errors - and both blame memory corruption.
I presume that this is a driver/software issue (rather than hardware)

Please uninstall the software for your USB sound/audio device and physically remove the device from your system.
These devices often have BSOD issues and the driver for yours is older.
Then test and see if that solves the BSOD issues.

More to follow after this (I have to step AFK for a bit...…...
EDIT: Please uninstall these MSI applications. They use the NTIOLib_X64.sys driver that's known to cause BSOD's:
    - Mystic Light
    - One Dragon Center (there are at least 3 different instances of NTIOLib_X64.sys in this progr0am's sub-directories).

Finally, the Kinoni Video device's driver is also a bit older. I suggest uninstalling it's software temporarily.
I'm not familiar with this driver, but see a lot of issues when searching the web .

Also, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Enable and Disable Driver Verifier in Windows 10
If possible, let it crash the system 3 times (so we have several dumps to look at). BUT, if it takes too long, it's OK to just upload the first dump so we can see if that helps figure things out.

    Thanks for the reply jdc1.

I will try those steps and feedback with the outcome!

    Thanks again.

Update: Since removing dragon center I have not had any BSODs. I did install this along with some other updates around the time I started getting BSOD so it seems this was the culprit.

    Thanks for the help!

    Thanks for letting us know.
This seems to confirm that the NTIOLib_X64.sys driver from MSI is still an active BSOD problem on some systems.
Glad that we were able to help out!
