Random and Ongoing BSOD's

Since September 2019 I have been experiencing regular and what I feel are excessive BSOD’s on my computer. The issues started to be very common after a Windows update in September and I have not been able to determine a cause. I have gone through the system and updated all of my drivers, the Bios, software with both default Microsoft drivers and the latest drivers from the manufacturers. None of which has seemed to help the problem.

I have completed a couple of memory tests on the system with various memory configuration combinations (amount/brand) and diagnostic programs listed below.

MemTest86 ran for 36 hours w no errors on 32 GB EVGA SuperSC memory – No errors
Windows Memory Diagnostic – No erros
Test 1: 32GB Memory total - BSOD
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm1 - B1 slot
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 2 - G1 slot
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm3 - B2 slot
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm4 - G2 slot

Test 2: 16GB Memory total - BSOD
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 1 - B1 slot
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 2 – B2 slot

Test 3: 16GB Memory total - BSOD
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 1 - G1 slot
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 2 - G2 slot

Test 4: 16GB Memory total - BSOD
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 3 - B1 slot
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 4 – B2 slot

Test 5: 16GB Memory total - BSOD
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 3 - G1 slot
Memory – EVGA SuperSC DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 4 - G2 slot

Test 6: 16GB Memory total - BSOD
Memory – Crucial Ballistix DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 1 - B1 slot
Memory – Crucial Ballistix DDR3 (8GB) – Dimm 2 – B2 slot


I have ran the V2 log collector on multiple occasions and have both of the associated files stored in the Google Drive linked below.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, at this point I just want to know what the issue is with the computer. Hopefully this spring will see a replacement coming but this is just bugging me.

Hello, not everybody has high speed internet, so I recommend you to first download 7-zip
then use 7-zip to compress those dumps by using 7z extension and "ultra" compression type

According to the latest dump a very old driver (which is a component of Intel Rapid Storage Technology) is loading named iaStorA.sys. It has a 2015 timestamp. I'd recommend updating to the latest Windows 10 version compatible with your motherboard or uninstalling it if you didn't use it to create a RAID array.

I have gone thru the whole Device Manager and individually attempted to update each driver. I get the same "The installed driver is the most recent driver" message for everything there.. Unfortunately the Intel Rapid Storage driver was installed as part of the MB driver package and I haven't been able to uninstall it by itself (probably just brain dead after dealing with this for 5 months)

The RAM models were not seen on the QVL.

Please consider replacing the RAM.

Memtest is designed to find malfunctioning RAM.
There can be a significant number of false negatives (normal test result with malfunctioning RAM).

Memtest is not designed to find fault with normally functioning RAM that may be mismatched or incompatible with the motherboard.

When purchasing new RAM please make sure the make and model are displayed on the Qualified Vendor List (QVL).

Intel Rapid Storage Technology doesn't get updated through Windows Update or Device Manager. I linked the Intel download page for IRST in my original reply. You're after a 64 bit installer for Windows 10 but you may need to try a few to see which is compatible with your motherboard. I'd start with the latest and work backwards. You should get a message about it not being compatible if you try to install a version that doesn't support your motherboard chipset.

As stated in the original post. I have tried 4 different combinations of the original ram (EVGA) and replaced it with 16gb of crucial (which is currently installed)... BSOD's on any ram combo/brand installed

Sorry misread the 1st post... i found a newer version then was installed, here's to hoping that worked. thanks

The EVGA may not be listed in the QVL but it worked perfectly fine in the system until i did a Windows Update in September, and as i stated the system now has Crucial memory in it which is on the QVL and it is still getting BSODs...

Prior to September 2019 i was running Windows 10 V1803 and then i upgraded to 1809 and then to 1903...Once 1903 was installed on the system i started getting regular BSOD's ( more than 3 a week) and this was all with the EVGA memory... prrior to September = no BSOD... after September BSOD's. And granted i know that the update may have had nothing to do with the issues and the memory (EVGA) could have gone bad at that same time, but i have been running Crucial memory for the past 2 weeks and still get the BSOD.

This may apply to your situation. The block wasn't put in place for some time after 1903 was released. Are you still having crashes after updating IRST?
