    BSOD when Shutdown

    Hello!

I am getting a consistent BSOD whenever I either shutdown or restart my computer. This doesn't happen in any other way. Another thing is that it doesn't happen every time. It goes 1 or 2 days without a problem sometimes. Once had a five day gap between the BSODs but it still happens.

This is a fresh Windows 10 install. OS Build 18363.418.

My GPU driver is up to date with GeForce Experience.

    I've attached the log file.
Drive link too just in case: DESKTOP-18PORTM-(2020-01-08_15-42-51).zip - Google Drive

    Thank you for your help!

From what I can see, there were MSI processes in the background like MSI Afterburner or MSI OC Kit (MSIAfterburner.exe and VideoCardMonitorII.exe) try to disable these two processes before shutting down the system

I see. Thank you for your reply. Maybe that is the reason why it does not happen every time.

I'll disable those and monitor the situation. If it happens again, I'll bump the thread.

    Thank you very much!

This may interest you as I think there is a known issue with the latest W10 update: BSOD At Shut Down Only If I Power Off External Drive During Process

I checked this thread, I thought it may be related to my problem but I don't have any external drive though. I mean I have an SSD which has the Windows 10 installed and I have a HDD drive for secondary usage. I didn't change any components or anything, this is the setup I've been using for almost three years now.

I'll try the solution above and we'll see if those applications were the culprits.

    Thanks again.

    Hello again,

I got another BSOD after a couple of days.

I am attaching the log collector logs again. I didn't have the MSIAfterburner.exe and/or VideoCardMonitorII.exe open, I checked it on Task Manager before I tried to shutdown.

Could you please check the log file and tell me what is wrong now?

    Thanks.

This time the process that was running at the time of the crash was DragonCenter.exe from the Dragon Center program from MSI. My advice, close all programs and all processes except critical ones (i.e. those necessary for the system to work) before turning off the computer

    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) sfc /scannow
    6) chkdsk /scan
    7) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
    8) wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType = 7
    9) wmic recoveros get autoreboot
    10) wmic recoveros get DebugInfoType
    11) bcdedit /enum {badmemory}

    12) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    13) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting

    14) uninstall the Nvidia GPU driver using DDU (display driver uninstaller)

    15) re-install the Nvidia GPU driver from the Nvidia website

    16) make sure that you check the clean install box and if available install the physx driver.

Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 18.0.1.5 (or newer version if available)
