Intermittent BSODs with new custom PC

    Hi All

Hoping someone is able to shed some light here. I'm getting intermittent BSODs, which don't occur very often, maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks and they seem to be different each time. I had a quick look at the dump files and they just seem to point to hardware faults and the Corsair iCue service? As far as I know all of the drivers on my PC are up to date, including iCue. Dump files attached below

    Windows 10 version 1903

    Thanks in advance.

What kind of PC do you have? Is it a gaming PC? Are you overclocking? Try default values.

Try swapping RAM (or remove one if you have several) onto different slots and see if BSODs still occur.

    Hello

Yes it is a custom build gaming PC. Everything is running at default values, no overclocking.

I was originally using 16GB of 2666mhz RAM in 8GB x2 sticks, and then I added another 16gb in the same configuration to make a total of 32GB RAM. I remember that these BSODs only seemed to start when I added the additional RAM modules.

However, someone mentioned (and sorry I couldn't seem to reply to your Pm) that the 9900k and Z390-F don't support dual channel RAM running in more than 2 slots? Or something to that effect?

Please copy C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP to another location then zip it an upload to Google drive and post a share link so we can download it. Thanks

    Thanks for the large dump.

Looking at it I noticed the Nvidia display driver is running right up till the dump begins.
You currently have 10/12/2018 441.20 version.
    There is a 2019.11.12 441.20

That may be the same as what you currently have(441.20) but I'd like you to use DDU to uninstall your current version in Safe Mode then install the one from the Nvidia Web Site. See if it makes any difference.

Remove and install latest Nvidia drivers:

Get the latest driver for your Nvidia card here: NVIDIA Driver Downloads
Completely uninstall the current Nvidia display drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from WagnardMobile: Official Download Here. Do this in Safe Mode.

Then do a custom install of only the Nvidia Graphics and PhysX driver.

See if that gets rid of the problem.

Thanks, I'll try that. One other thing I noticed is that some Chrome tabs tend to crash and display the 'Aw snap' message at random...

    Update on this.

So it turns out the BSODs were a result of bad RAM. I tested with memtest, found a whole bunch of errors and then tested each RAM stick individually. And I had one faulty module out of four. I RMA'd it, got a replacement and all is now well :)

Excellent, nice to have a good, solid diagnosis and certain resolution. Merry Christmas
