1903 - Can anyone please explain this BSOD?

    Windows version 18362.418.

I need an explanation to what this BSOD (log attached below) means (This link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ode-reference2 says it is an "UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION", but does not show in bluescreenview)

And this is a few days after a fresh reinstall. This BSOD occurred while the computer was sleeping.

So can anyone please explain what this means, and what I have to do?

    Hi TTSVids105,

    Welcome to TF BSOD forum.

The logs displayed problems with the drive.
Bugchecks are best for finding misbehaving drivers.
This one displayed problems with hardware.
And the log files displayed problems with the drive.
Please make a backup image and save important files to another disk drive.

    Perform these additional steps:

    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) sfc /scannow
    6) chkdsk /scan
    7) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
    8) wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType = 7
    9) bcdedit /enum {badmemory}

    10) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    11) Make a backup image using Macrium:
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free:
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

    12) Run HD Tune (free version) (all drives)
    HD Tune website
Post images into the thread for results on these tabs:
    a) Health
    b) Benchmark
    c) Full error scan

    13) Run Sea Tools for Windows
    long generic test
Post an image of the test result into the thread

    14) Increase the free drive free space to > 30 GB
Free Up Drive Space in Windows 10

    15) The BIOS: Version/Date Insyde Corp. V1.09, 8/7/2015

    16) For improved performance consider replacing Model WDC WD5000LPCX-21VHAT0
    with a SSD

    17) This scanner may be able to provide some replacement options:

I will try it later. Also, I didn’t know there was a new bios version until now, thanks for pointing that out! Hopefully this fixes my fn key.

I’m confused as to what these commands do:

wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType = 7
    bcdedit /enum {badmemory}

    Can you please elaborate?

Also need a heads up on how long this will take. Thanks!

The first two commands modify the startup and recovery system failure settings.
    automatically restart is unchecked
    automatic memory dump is enabled

The third command checks to see whether Windows has reported problems with RAM.

Once you have made a backup image and the software tests of the drive are displayed: chkdsk commands can be ran on the drive.

The time depends on the drive findings.
And whether the computer is stable / unstable (BSOD or unexpected shutdowns / restarts)

    I see now, thanks.

Bios has just been updated, now to do the rest. I’m now just waiting for midnight, as it may be a good time to run these.

    Scannow typically runs in < 10 - 15 min
Chkdsk has many switches and should be run overnight.
The important files should be protected now that the drive has a bad block.

The switches will be chkdsk /r /v

    At a later time chkds /b /v

These switches can take substantial time and should be run overnight.
The size of the drive, the status of the files, the free space, etc. can all impact the run time.

I decided to post this here in response to zbook’s PM.. Zbook you ran out of private messaging space

It... exhibited more issues than I was expecting. I couldn’t update Windows past 1903’s first release, .30 due to CRC errors brought by bad sectors. HD sentinel estimated the old drive had 11 days left.
Hence I bought a WD Blue 1TB HDD, which I installed myself. Works like a charm! In addition to having all the benefits of a brand new HDD, I get double the space!
    Thanks for the help

    Hi TTSVids105,

BSOD occur to protect the hardware.
An exception occurs that triggers the BSOD.
Then with software the dump files are debugged.
Software, firmware, and hardware can cause BSOD.
These may be able to be ruled in or ruled out by various steps/tests.
Sometimes software needs to be removed.
Other times hardware needs to be removed or swapped.
