The problem concerns only games saving in the so-called cloud (i.e. in Steam Cloud etc.)?
I use UPlay and the game is saved on my PC. There is an offline game play option which might be worth trying to avoid use of cloud services.

You could try using the service control manager in an elevated command prompt to stop and start the service but I have no idea what the consequences might be. Do so at your own risk.

If you type sc in the command prompt window you will see a full description of the various commands.

    sc stop cldflt
    sc start cldflt
sc query confirms those commands work. I've made a batch file for each to disable / enable the driver until MS produce a fix.

Update - stopping the driver cldflt.sys before commencing the game is the only fix which prevents a crash consistently happening on exiting the game.

There are various issues at the moment with cldflt.sys. Let's see how long MS take to fix it.

I'm pleased it is working as a temporary fix. Let us know if you hear of any MS communication on this. Did you provide feedback to MS on what you have done so far?

Steve, Phil, this is an excellent thread. Good teamwork and a good workaround.

Update - still no more crashes provided I stop the cldflt service before playing the game. The offending PC is on v1903. I considering permitting the upgrade to v1909 which I've done on my laptops. However, I noticed both versions use the same file version of cldflt.sys. I don't expect a resolution until MS fix the driver and I see a later version.

Update - The latest cumulative update mentions this update "Addresses an issue that might cause error 0x3B in cldflt.sys on some devices."

Hopefully, this might fix the crash reported here when \I have tome to check.
