unpredictable BSOD during office usage, caused by *ntoskrnl.exe*

    Hi,

Since a couple of months I'm experiencing random BSODs with the messages,
    HTML Code:
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    ,
    HTML Code:
    KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION
    , and
    HTML Code:
    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
. I've tried using WhoCrashed and followed the TenForums' Tutorial to use WinDbg. Unfortunately, both do not indicate a particular non-microsoft driver as cause of the problem. Instead, it seems that system modules are causing the issue (mainly "ntoskrnl.exe" & "ntkrnlmp.exe"). I've tried finding a way to reproduce the BSOD, however to no avail. The only suspicion I have is that the BSOD sometimes happens when the laptop has been in sleep mode and woken up.

The device is a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro i5 Ultrabook.

Here's what I've tried so far:
    - updating all intel drivers (WiFi, Chipset, BT, GPU, DTPF) and VPN services (cisco anyconnect) to the most recent versions
    - downgrading the drivers to those that came with the laptop (+ old version of VPN service)
    - reinstalling the original WiFi card
    - applied fresh thermal paste to the cpu
    - removing all external devices (SD-Slot, USBsticks etc..)
    - updated Windows 10 Pro to most recent version
    - formatted and did a clean install of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC
    - removed dualboot setup, in case the issue was related to an interference between Ubuntu (which ran fine, btw) and Windows

As this is my work machine, I'm desperate to fix this. I'd thus be very thankful for any help!

attached is the result of the V2 log collector.

    Thanks!

Looks like you are having problems with the Intel HD Graphics onboard chip GPU:

    Code:
    ffffea88`59ffe698 fffff807`7107122aUnable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\igdkmd64.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for igdkmd64.sys
     igdkmd64+0x1c122a
Use Intel's driver updater to get the latest GPU driver for your PC:

    Automatically update your drivers

Identify your products and get driver and software updates for your Intel hardware.

Click on Get Started to begin.

    Hi Ztruker,

thanks for looking into this! In fact, I now realized that Windows Update automatically installed a 2017 Version of the driver, adjusted by Lenovo. Because it's a manufacturer version, the Intel Update Utility and Windows Update would tell me that it's the most recent version and that there's no update. I could, however, manually download the latest Intel HD graphics driver (ver. 20.19.15.5063 from 10/29/2018), and install it after uninstalling the device (incl. drivers) completely via Device Manager. In fact, Windows would afterwards keep trying to roll back to the 2017 Lenovo version. So I also had to deactivate automatic driver updates (e.g., How to disable automatic driver updates on Windows 10 | Windows Central).

No BSOD so far since the update. As it previously happened at unpredictable times, I'll keep monitoring this for a couple of days before marking as solved.

    thanks!

Unfortunately i'm still experiencing BSOD. Now windows indicates *netio.sys* as the cause of the problem. However, this appears to be another system component. I reran the V2 log collector and attached the output. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

@MrPepka, thanks for the suggestion! I had a look at the cisco website and it seems v. 4.7.04056 is most recent version for Windows. As this is the version installed, this does not appear to be something I can update.

So i've been having several random BSOD after the last post here. Since all sorts of clean installs of Windows 10 and different driver/ vpn configurations did not help, I was suspecting a hardware fault and was about to send the device to Lenovo service. I anticipated, they'll complain that the device is not in "factory state" (i.e., isn't still using Windows 8). So I fully reverted the device using the recovery partition (of which I luckily made a backup back in the day..). Just out of curiosity, I then upgraded this install to Windows 10 1903. Interestingly, this appears to be working without any BSOD since a week. I'll therefore mark as solved.
