Random computer crashes since new Graphics card (No BSOD)

    Hi all,

I figured that this was the best place to post this, even though there isn't technically a BSOD.

    Attachment 240010

My problems started shortly after I installed my new graphics card back in March of this year. After a couple of weeks, my computer would randomly restart (sometimes once a day, sometimes on power up 5 or 6 times in a row) from idle state, under load, etc. At the time, I had some old crappy sticks of RAM, so I assumed that it was a memory issue without too much troubleshooting. Obviously, this did not remedy my problem.

The crash/restart/hang happens a couple different ways: -Screen locks up and the power button turns it off immediately (no holding button down to turn it off)
-Screen goes black and I have to hold button down to turn it off
-Screen goes black and can turn it off by pressing button (like first issue)

Ok, now to what I have done to troubleshoot (not in any particular order):

-Fresh install of Windows 10 (keep files option and clean install)
    -Stress Tests(FurMark, and HeavyLoad mainly)
-Removing GPU and GPU Drivers and used onboard graphics (this one bears mentioning that I had no crashes but sometimes my computer will go days between crashes so I didn't feel that was definitive in any way. I feel like I should've fleshed this on out more)
-Removed pump from Processor and reapplied thermal paste
    -Removed RAM and reinserted
-Removed GPU several times and reinserted (bears mentioning its on a riser since I have a weird case)
    -Ran SSD utilities (including CrystalDisk)
-A couple of other things that I'm sure I've forgotten since I began (shoulda kept a log)

Anyways, I hope that's enough info. I'm really at my wits end with this since sometimes it happens several times in a 5 minute span along with the fact that there is no BSOD to get errors from for troubleshooting.

    Thanks for the help everyone!

Are you overclocking/over-under volting? If so set all to nominal and test. If that makes no difference then the obvious place to start is with the new video card. Looks like you have the newest driver available so I would RMA it and see if a new one resolves the problem.

    Thank you for your response!

I have started the RMA process with EVGA since obviously my return period with Newegg is expired. I'll update this thread once I get the RMA resolution and get the new GPU installed

    Thanks again.

    Hi all,

Quick update: I performed a clean install of Windows once again and went reset/crash free, right up until the point I installed the GPU drivers and started testing it with a game. I'm also finally getting error codes that has various files referenced within them

The error is LiveKernelEvent codes 50, 117, and 141.

Should I repost my V2 log?

    Thanks!

Never hurts to post the V2 zip. Did you get the new video card yet?

    Update:

So I got the new GPU today. Fired it up and installed fairly seamlessly (like a new one should). Lo and behold, 30 minutes into gameplay my computer crashed. It has done it twice within 30 minutes now.

I had a GTX960 in it prior and had no issues. Also, I just ran two weeks with onboard graphics with not one single crash. Could it be my MOBO? That's the only thing I can think of. I ordered a new PSU to test with the old GPU and it still crashed, so its not the PSU. I'm about to just get rid of this new GPU and go back. At this point I'm not sure what the issue is.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

Post a new V2 log so we can see what is causing it and if it's still the GPU.

No dumps in the zip. Any time you get a BSOD, please run the V2 log collector immediately after the reboot so we can catch the dump before it gets deleted.

    Hardware fail on 8/2 at 7:54PM and 7:55PM nvlddmkm.sys
There was a dump created on 8/2 at 7:55PM that we don't have.

So it looks like the new GPU is failing in the same way the old one failed.

You never answered my original question: Are you overclocking/over-under volting? If so set all to nominal and test. Are you using any tweaking software. If yes, uninstall it for now once everything is set to default/nominal.

Also just noticed your GPU is driving a 32" Vizio TV. How is it connected, HDMI? Do you have another diaplay you can connect temporarily? If so connect with DVI or even VGA just for test purposes.

Run the standard DISM and SFC commands up to 3 times until they run clean. This batch file will do them for you. Run from a Elevated Command Prompt:

    Good morning again,

Sorry for not answering that for you. I had OC'd before but discontinued as soon as I detected a problem. I haven't overclocked the new card at all for fear that was what cause the issue prior.

This may be an obvious question, but I ran DDU for the first time after it failed this last time. It detected that the Microsoft basic display adapter was still running (or at least still there). I disabled and uninstalled the display adapter, and so far, have had no crashes. I suspect that was not the issue since it wasn't with my 960, but was wondering if that could have had something to do with it.

I do have a few monitors laying around. Should I connect to one of those instead for now?. I run most of my stuff through HDMI. Also, I'll run the batch file ASAP.

    Thanks again for the help!
