BSOD, freezes and black screen on desktop and in a variety of games

    Greetings TenForums,

I assembled this new PC back in March. Due to a defective RAM stick, I have had to wait until recently to actually put it to use.

Unfortunately, I am experiencing problems when playing games, and in one instance even just messing around on the desktop.

After a seemingly random amount of playtime, either the image freezes (sound can still be heard) or the screen goes black (monitor claiming "no input signal"). Whether the gameplay returns after freezing seems to also be random, and in the event it does not, a hard reset is required.

Only one BSOD has happened so far, which was almost immediately after restarting from a black screen.

A friend with almost identical hardware had experienced a similar issue, and recommended updating the Ethernet driver. After having done so, the problems unfortunately still persist, with the exception of BSOD, which has yet to happen again.

I have attached both the DM and Beta Log collector files.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    TootleDoo.

    Hi TootleDoo ,

    1) Please zip the memory dump and post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive

    Code:
    Crash dump found at C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP
    Creation date: 05/09/2019 22:01:34
    Size on disk: 1009 MB

    2) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) chkdsk /scan
    6) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
    7) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    8) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting.

    9) Make a backup image using Macrium:
Macrium Software | Your Image is Everything

    10) Save the backup image to another disk drive

    11) Make a new restore point:
Create System Restore Point in Windows 10

    12) Read this link on windows verifier:
Enable and Disable Driver Verifier in Windows 10

    13) Use these customized simultaneous tests:
    I/O Verification
    Force pending I/O requests
    IRP logging
    Special pool

    14) After each BSOD:
    a) upload new BETA log collector results into the thread
    b) open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for C:\windows\memory.dmp > if the file size is < 1.5 GB then zip > post a separate share link into the thread

    15) Run Memtest86 for 4 passes.
MemTest86 - Official Site of the x86 Memory Testing Tool
MemTest86 - Official Site of the x86 Memory Testing Tool
Repeat the test for a total of 8 passes.
Find a camera or smartphone camera.
Take a picture of each test result > upload images into the thread
Post a zip for each text report in addition to the results images.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find the C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP file. The file within the Minidump folder is also gone. I suspect they have been automatically deleted by the OS during a restart or shutdown.

Steps 2-7 yielded the following results
    Code:

I uninstalled the Virtual Bus drivers which prevented me from running Driver Verifier.

After the uninstallation, I ran Driver Verifier for two hours without any issues.

However, I still experiences freezes, black screens and rarely BSODs.

A few minutes ago, a game I was playing froze, crashed to desktop and then almost immediately BSOD'd.

The following V2 Log Collector and memory.dmp files were acquired.
    Attachment 233675
    MEMORY.DMP - Google Drive

I am considering whether clearing the CMOS would help.

    Thanks,
    TootleDoo.

That's odd. I updated that driver just a few days ago. I even mentioned it in the OP as seen here

A friend with almost identical hardware had experienced a similar issue, and recommended updating the Ethernet driver. After having done so, the problems unfortunately still persist, with the exception of BSOD, which has yet to happen again.

I don't know how it was automatically rolled back to the 2015 version.

I have updated the driver again and will return with an update.

    Kind regards,
    TootleDoo.

    1) Uninstall everything AMD using Display driver uninstaller and install new drivers from the AMD website.

    2) On the AMD web site be sure the "clean install" box is checked and only install the graphics driver.

Official Display Driver Uninstaller DDU Download

Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 18.0.0.8 (or newer version if available)
