BSOD while multitasking work applications - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

    Hi Folks,

I've been getting a BSOD most days, particularly when switching between productivity applications for work like say chrome, Libre office, Autocad. Though sometimes it crashes when I'm barely even putting it under load. No problem while gaming.

Steps I've taken before posting here include:
    1. Contacting Microsoft and troubleshooting with them - got me to upgrade version of windows that was stuck in test mode since receiving from manufacturer and hence not upgrading...
    2. Contacting Razer support - advised me of BIOS updates to apply, I later found an Intel ME update had just been released.

See attached Beta Log Collector report & Windbg Bugcheck Analysis. I would really appreciated some expert insight into this issue from the forum users here. Both support technicians I was speaking to in Microsoft and Razor told me to go elsewhere to have my Minidumps analysed, need I say more!

    Code:
    DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)
A driver has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time.
    Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000003, A device object has been blocking an Irp for too long a time
Arg2: ffffd304aa572060, Physical Device Object of the stack
Arg3: ffffcf829e867c20, nt!TRIAGE_9F_POWER on Win7 and higher, otherwise the Functional Device Object of the stack
    Arg4: ffffd304bd316d30, The blocked IRP

Others will be wiht you shortly, however quick glance at the data you supplied suggests that drivers are a bit dated.

Can you get this whole lot updated - I assume the below link is relevant to your laptop/PC?

    Razer Support

I'm thinking specifically all sort of Intel & nVidia drivers.

    Hi krzemien,

I have gone through the drivers list on the relevant Razor support page for my Blade 15 advanced 2018 model (your link is for 2019) and as far as I can tell all required updates have been applied. I just got a blue screen again after posting with a different stop code as per the attached.

I was thinking my next step would be to uninstall display drivers with ddu in safe mode and reinstall but somewhat doubt this will affect my problems.

On a side note, Windows Defender Offline scan doesn't seem to work on my machine, all that happens is I get a brief flash of a wdo gui after restart and the computer then just boots normally.

That explains the differences I saw - still, I would still be inclined to update the relevant device drivers to their latest available versions, possibly from vendor's sites directly, as I can tell that Intel drivers are rather dated (whole lot: Chipset, Wifi, Bluetooth and ME).

    IntelĀ® Driver & Support Assistant

I think others will ask you to perform the usual tasks to help you with troubleshooting this pickle - plus they will request to see DMP files either.

Thanks for the advice, the Intel DSA pointed to 3 no. drivers that were out of date: Intel Graphics, Wifi and Bluetooth.

I'll post back if any further blue screens.

    Hi again,

My issue has not been resolved. See logs and bugcheck attached.

I have taken the following steps to try and solve but the issue persists.

Upgrade version of windows to latest
    Update nvidia graphics drivers
Update Intel drivers with Driver Support Assistant
Update BIOS from razer support page
Update Intel ME from razer support page
Windows Defender Offline boot scan (0 threats)
    Checkdisk boot scan (0 corruption)

Any help would be appreciated. These crashes are happening a few times a day now.

The power state failure seems to be associated with your graphics driver. Try completely removing everything of Nvidia and reinstalling the latest driver.

The best way to do this is to uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from your Graphics card manufacturer or from the NVidia website. When you do this be sure the "clean install" box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver.

    Code:
    DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)
A driver has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time.
