Wouldn't hurt but unlikely to show an error. Time to figure out how to test your Nvme drive.

    Diagnostics Test
    HDD TEST

    Run HDTune Pro Trial to

    • check the health,
    • scan for errors, not quick scan but full scan
    • run a benchmark.

Run CrystalDiskInfo Portable and CrystalDiskMark Portable to

    • Check health of drive
    • Check performance of drive

You can also try the various options available with chkdsk.

So interestingly enough, for my SSD, I cannot see the health of it in HDTune Pro and it doesn't even appear in CrystalDiskInfo.

Does this point to a potential issue there, or just a possible consequence of the type of SSD I have? I will run the other two tests within HDTune and post those results and also take a look at the chkdsk options. Thanks!

Try HD Tune 2.55, the last free version, see what that gives you. Just scroll down a bit on the same page HD Tune Pro is on to download it. No installation required, just run it.

My Samsung EVO 860 SSD shows up fine in CrystalDiskInfo and HD Tune 2.55. Must be because it's an NVME drive. Does your motherboard support it directly or did you have to add a PCI-e card?

So I installed the free version and still no dice on the health. This was a lenovo built laptop and I have added nothing to the hardware since I got it in October 2017, so anything to do with compatibility I would imagine lenovo took care of that when building the laptop. I ran another pass of the memtest last night and it to came back clean.

I did run the benchmark and error check with HDTune:

I also ran the windows disk check:

I also updated my bios version aswell using the installer from Lenovo. The BSOD (Critical Process Died is now the more common one) now seem to take a little while to happen. Like I will be browsing the internet in Chrome , hit the back button, and see in the bottom left hand corner "waiting for cache". I am then not able to click anything in chrome, but I am still able to get to something like Task Manager. Last night, I actually managed to kill the chrome process and then this popped up:

After this pop-up it probably took about 30 more seconds before it actually BSOD (no minidumps either). I have tried Edge as well to see if it was a chrome issue, but I just experienced the same thing as with chrome (long wait before the actual BSOD, like the computer is trying to recover)

Further, irregardless of the BSODs at random my cpu fan randomly spins up for 15 or so seconds and then spins back down. When I check task manager it seems to be wsappx that is causing the high CPU usage, but then it goes back down a few seconds later.

You can try disabling Windows Store App, see if that has any effect:

See here: What is WSAPPX and how to fix its High Disk Usage Issue

Talks about high disk usage but the method to disable is the important information.

I can't do either of methods to actually disable it. gpedit.msc doesn't exist on my machine because I am using the home version of windows 10 and I can't find the path in regedit that it talks about:

I don't have it either, sorry. Article was posted October 4 2017.

Give chkdsk c: /f /r a try next. You will have to respond Y and reboot for it to run.

Done, was stuck at 15% for about 10 minutes and then seemed to complete very quickly after that.

I choose the second option to produce the txt file. I have attached it. I had previously ran this check as well, so there are two logs of dskchk in that file. Thanks!
