BSOD (VIDEO_TDR_Failure) when plugging in a pocket projector via VGA

    Hey there,

I just found an old Pocket Projector (3M Micro Professional Projector MPro110) and wanted to connect it via VGA cable to my Laptop (it is a VGA cable with some kind of Micro-VGA plug on the side that gets plugged into the Beamer)

Unfortunately, I always get a BSOD when I plug in the Projector (it doesn't matter whether it is turned on or off)

    (VIDEO_TDR_Failure ; file: Igdkmd64.sys)

I already tried Updating all my GPU drivers (AMD Radeon HD 8600M Series, Driver: 25.20.15025.1002; Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, Driver: 20.19.15.5058) but had no success.

I checked if my VGA output is working as well, since I connected a normal screen using a normal VGA cable to the Laptop.

As a last resort I tried using a HDMI-VGA Adapter to connect the Projector via HDMI, unfortunately then the Projector showes a big question mark on its Bluescreen. The only positive thing is, that I don't get a BSOD when I connect it via HDMI.

I certainly know that the Projector is about 10 years old, but it works perfectly on my other Laptop which is running on Windows 7. So maybe there is a problem with the compartibility of the Projector and Windows 10? And if so, how can I fix it?

I hope one of you can help me, I've been working on this problem the last three days now, but couldn't find any soultion that would work for me. If you nedd any further information just let me know (you'll find the ZIP-file in the attachment)

    Thanks a lot!

3 dumps all the same problem with the Intel driver.

    Code:

    Driver Description: Intel Graphics driver

You said you tried a updated driver Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, Driver: 20.19.15.5058 but it's dated 16.08.2018.
Intel has a 2/25/2019 version on their web site. Give it a try. If that is not a valid driver for your Dell Latitude E6440 then use the

    Automatically update your drivers
Identify your products and get driver and software updates for your Intel hardware.
    see what it finds.

Noticed this is a fairly old (2008) device so you may not have any success using it.

Were you able to install the driver from Intel or did it tell you something like "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer."?

See the 2nd post in this thread. It tells you how to get around the restriction imposed by the oem graphics package by manually installing the Intel Graphics driver: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Deskto...e/td-p/6708699

Yes as Ztruker linked, you need to bypass it (once) to install the upstream Intel drivers.

    Essentially:
    1. Download the .zip version of the Intel driver and extract it.
    2. Access the device manager by right-clicking the Start button and select "Device Manager"
    3. Under "Display adapters", right click on the Intel HD Graphics device, and select "Properties"
    4. Under the "Driver" tab in the properties dialog, select "Update Driver."
    5. Choose "Browse my computer for driver software", and select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"
    6. Click "Have Disk..." and navigate to the directory of the extracted driver, then select the ".inf" file
    7. Install the driver

    Hey guys!

The problem with the ZIP-File is, that intel only provides an .exe file for Download.

There is what they say on their website:

"DO NOT use the INF / Have-Disk method to install or uninstall this driver as it bypasses the Intel installer designed to install these new drivers, thereby possibly resulting in minor to major system instability. For this reason, we're not providing the ZIP file for the next several driver releases while users transition to this new Microsoft driver platform."

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28566/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10?product=80939

The last driver with .ZIP file available is the one I have already installed.

Ignore the warning. Unzip it and give it a try anyway. (Yes, you can unzip a .exe that contains compressed files).

    hey there!

I know it sounds stupid but it won't let me install the driver.

Every time when I select the folder of the driver, a popup window shows up, saying: "The best driver for your system is already installed." and there are no options like "install anyways" or something similar.

I guess if there is no other option you guys can think of, I will probably have to give up
