    BSOD Memory Management

For the past week I've had a BSOD Memory Management when I turn my PC off, but not while it's running otherwise. I've attached the report generated by "log collector v2-beta17". What advice can you give me, please?

    Cheers

Does it happen with a restart or only when you shut down?

    Thank you for replying.
I've just re-started and that worked as normal. When I shut down, the PC has been running for several hours - don't know if that makes a difference.

That is what I expected, I believe you have a problem related to the fast start mechanism that writes information to disk when you shut down so that your system can resume faster when you next boot up.

Please test this theory out by turning off Fast Start and seeing if it makes a difference next time you shut down.

I've just done that and then shut down with no BSOD.
I'll report back when I turn off at bed-time, to see if running the PC for a few hours makes any difference.
    Thank you.

    Hello again! Here's my update.

Last night the PC shut down properly, having been running for about 13 hours.

However, this morning the PC would not start normally and attempted to diagnose itself and repair the startup: this failed, so I did a system restore. I don't know if this is linked to turning off the Fast Startup or whether its something else.

I've run the diagnostic program and the file it generated is attached.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

I would be surprised if turning off Fast Startup gave problems, it is usually the other way around.

I could not see anything in the logs that point to what happened. There were no new BSOD crashes recorded. There were a number of failed updates and so it is possible that your PC was trying to complete an update when it turned back on and this failed. I would suggest you manually check for updates and restart the PC if required. I think you are still on the old 1803 build so there is a possibility it is trying to update to 1809. In a few weeks 1903 will be rolling out.

It is also possible that the underlying cause is related to a hardware problem and so I would make sure you have regular backups of all your data and can restore your system in the event of a failure.

I'll check on updates, but they usually install automatically.
    Backups are (fairly) up-to-date.

    Thanks again for your help.
