BSOD DPC-Watchdog Violation when watching youtube or playing spotify

Many apologies if this is a duplicate somewhere as my laptop is a Gateway so doing a forum search only turns up tons of network gateway results...

This started back in June or so, but is becoming more and more frequent each week. Whenever I watch videos from the internet I can get anywhere from 10 minutes to almost an hour before it crashes. It happens watching Youtube, videos streamed from Amazon, and even just browsing websites that have embedded videos that I can't pause or disable. It also happens while running Spotify, though this one just started happening last month or so.

Thank you in advance for any advice you might be able to give.

    Hello smkruzik,

    Welcome to TenForums

At the moment I can't find any logs with reference to recent BSOD crashes. Where and when did you see the DPC Watchdog violation message? Was it last December? There is a windows error report from back then.

that's possible. When it happens, my laptop freezes and the sound from whatever I'm watching just continues repeating on whatever tone was playing. It's really annoying and takes about 5-7 minutes before it finally goes from "frozen" to BSOD, so lately I've just done a hard reset on it as soon as it locks up and before it gets to the screen. Since it happens regularly enough though, I can wait for it and mute it so it can go all the way to the bsod and upload a fresh log if that would help.

Thank you - that would be quite helpful, perhaps to generate about 2 or 3 new crash mini-dumps for analysis. A link to the memory.dmp file might also be needed if the DPC watchdog is of a particular type.

sorry for taking a while. I wanted to make sure I got a few watchdog violations from different applications. Hopefully there's something useful in this log.

Thanks for the update. However, there was only one crash file. Can you also provide a share link to the C:\Windows\memory.dmp file.

    Code:
    Crash dump found at C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP
    Creation date: 03/12/2019 06:19:12
    Size on disk: 1024 MB

I apologize I'm not sure how to do that. If you let me know or send me directions, I'm happy to get you whatever you need

The file I referred to is too large to upload as a zip file into your post. Therefore you need to upload it to a file share service such as OneDrive or Dropbox and share a link to it in your post.

Thanks for the link. I have looked at the kernel memory dump file but have not been able to identify which DPC is causing the delay.

    The

    Code:
    0: kd> !dpcs
    CPU Type KDPC Function
     0: Normal  : 0xffffa38a3640bcb8 0xfffff805486b1250 HDAudBus!HdaController::NotificationDpc
     0: Normal : 0xfffff80146bb0840 0xfffff801468854d0 nt!PpmCheckPeriodicStart
     0: Normal : 0xfffff80146bbc880 0xfffff80146930830 nt!KiBalanceSetManagerDeferredRoutine
Have you updated your audio drivers? The connection with video and audio and the appearance of the HDAudbus makes me wonder if the audio drivers are causing this. Either roll back the audio drivers or try to find newer ones.
