    daily BSOD during normal windows use (not gameplay)


    I get a BSOD on my computer (my 2nd system), almost every day once or twice..
    It seems to happen randomly. Usually during "normal" windows use, while using office applications, or wniodws explorer. Not during gameplay.

    Today, I got three BSOD. I was using Citrix and google chrome. The error messages I read on the BSOD are different.

    I created a log with "dm_log_collector" because the "log collector v2-beta17" did ot seem to work on my computer.
    See attached.

    I would appreciate any help in solving this.

    Hi Smurfmans,

    The logs were in a foreign language and could not be scanned or read.
    Please change the default language to English during the troubleshooting so that the logs can be troubleshooted.

    Then post a BETA log collector zip:

    Uninstall Bitdefender using the applicable uninstall tool:
    Uninstall Bitdefender

    Make sure Windows defender is on.

    For any BSOD after the above steps:
    a) Run the BETA log collector > post a new zip into the thread
    b) Open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for: C:\Windows\memory.dmp > if the file size is < 1.5 GB then zip and post a separate share link into this thread

    Post images if you cannot run the BETA log collector.


    Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    sfc /scannow
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    chkdsk /scan
    wmic RecoverOS set AutoReboot = False
    When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting.

    Hi zbook,

    Thanks for your reply and your time for my problem.
    I followed your instructions in the order you typed them:

    1) Language. I believe I already had the 'windows display language' set to English. To be sure, I checked it again. See screenshot:

    I did change the preffered language order. I moved "english" up -as indicated by the green arrow- so it is now also the 'default app language'. I hope this solves the language problem? If not, I need some extra help in setting it right.

    2) BETA colletor ZIP. I dowloaded the latest version, and ran it. It did nog finish the correct way. I stopped at some point, and the window closed immediately. I manually zipped the files it created and posted them here.
    I ran it again while filming. (It goes too fast to take screenshot.) However, I can't upload the movie (*.mp4, 49 MB)

    NOTE: for some reason, my minidump files are being deleted, and I can't find out why. When I ran the dm_log_collector on february 1st, there were still 3 minidump files present. Now, they are gone. But, I manually copied them to a backup location yesterday. If you want, I can copy them back before running dm_collector of BETA_collector again.

    3) Bitdefender. I unstalled both bitdefender and bitdefender agent. Windows defender is now on.

    4) Create a bootable Windows 10 iso:

    5) Perform an in place upgrade repair:

    6) Steps for an in place upgrade repair:
    a) power on the computer
    b) open file explorer
    c) insert the windows 10 iso flash drive into any USB port
    d) identify the windows 10 iso within file explorer
    e) click on the iso and launch setup or setup.exe
    f) follow the text and images in this link:

    7) After the in place upgrade repair:

    9) sfc /scannow
    10) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    11) chkdsk /scan

    14) Modify the language settings as needed to make the default language English during the troubleshooting:

    16) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings

    a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery window into the thread

    b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > on the performance options window > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory window into the thread

    17) If the computer has Ccleaner (do not install the software if it is not already installed) > click windows tab > scroll down to system and advanced > post an image into the thread

    18) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting.

    19) Sometimes there are problems in the bios that produce bsod.

    Please check to see if the BIOS is the most up to date version.

    21) Open the website for the computer or motherboard manufacturer to view the drivers and post a URL or hyperlink into the thread.

    22) To ensure that there are no improper bios settings please reset the bios.

    23) Sometimes there can be failure to boot after resetting the bios.

    24) Backup the computer files to another drive or to the cloud.

    25) Make a backup image using Macrium:

    step 1: I did "chkdsk /r /v" on both my c and d drive.
    step 2: I used this link Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 | Tutorials to find and paste the 2 chkdsk log files. I hope this is correct; there was no link provided in the post #4.

    For C:

    Windows has made corrections to the file system.

    Correcting error in index $I30 for file 287A7.
    The index bitmap $I30 in file 0x287a7 is incorrect.

    I completed step 3 and 4.
    Ready to do step 5 this evening.
    Today I got a BSOD 3 times.
    As requested at step 27, I ran and posted both DM collector and BETA collector logs.
    I am not sure if you want to see these logs now already, or only after I finish step 26.
    But just to be sure, I posted the logs.

    2) Open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for: WFP-20190203-1043.dmp

    3) If this file does not appear using Windows search then download and install: Everything
    voidtools

    4) Then use Everything search to find the file > then zip > post a one drive or drop box share link into the thread

    1) In startup and recovery system failure:
    a) change small memory dump to automatic memory dump
    b) the directory should change from mini dump to memory dump
    c) reboot to maintain settings

    2) For any BSOD:
    a) run the BETA log collector and post a new zip into the the thread
    b) open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for C:\windows\memory.dmp > if the file size is < 1.5 GB then zip and post a separate share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive
