BSOD with KMODE Exception not handle, no driver listed

Hey all

I have a couple Dell laptops here, both are Latitude E6540 with identical specs. Both laptops we had at work and at Windows 10 with no issues.

I formatted both and reinstalled Win 7 pro, used the Dell Command Update to update the BIOS, video drivers (AMD and Intel both) and a couple other items that I can't remember. Using Windows 7 works fine, no issues. I then upgraded to Win 10 and that's when I start to have issues. After it completes the upgrade and I'm at the desktop, I start to get the BSOD and the KMODE Exception not handle with no driver listed. It then reboots, then repeats the BSOD and KMODE Exception not handle in a loop. I can get into safe mode however.

Can I run the collector program in safe mode?

1) Run the BETA log collector in either normal or safe mode:

2) Update the specs in the "My Computer" section:

In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

3) Open one thread for each laptop

Perform the following steps:

1) In startup and recovery system failure:
a) change kernel to automatic memory dump
b) uncheck automatic restart
c) reboot to maintain settings

3) Open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for: C:\windows\memory.dmp > zip > post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive

4) The operating system is 16299 or 1709.

5. I've got the Dell Driver updated, but not for sure what version of Atheros I need, I can't find a model of anything Atheros/Qualcomm in device manager. In services, there is a Qualcomm Atheros Netagent service that has an executable of C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Dell Unified Wireless Suite\Agent\AthNetAgent.exe

After doing the above steps, it seems to be stable

Unless you made alterations to the computer to prevent upgrades Windows if possible would have forced the upgrade.
Had you made any modifications?
If not there may be something preventing the upgrade.

This is a check list you can use before the next upgrade attempt.
When you have completed the checklist you can perform and upgrade with a Windows 10 iso version 1809.
The method is similar to an in place upgrade repair:

Download Windows 10 ISO File | Tutorials
If the upgrade fails then it should display an error message or code or both.
The message or code may then be able to be troubleshooted by viewing panther logs.

This is the upgrade checklist:

Run through this check list before the next upgrade attempt:

1) remove nonessential hardware
docks
USB devices
printers
headset
speakers
bluetooth devices
USB drives (other than a windows 10 iso if used for the upgrade)
USB Wireless Mouse or Keyboard Receiver, USB Wireless Network Card,



2) These should be the only attached devices:
wired mouse
wired keyboard
monitor

Any of these that have been done in the past week are not necessary to repeat:


3) open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste: (repair file system)
chkdsk /x /f /r
This may take many hours so plan to run overnight

4) open administrative command prompt and copy and paste: (repair operating system)
sfc /scannow
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

5) update windows (have all recommended updates installed) and reboot after updates

6) uninstall all non-Microsoft antivirus software
(This includes always on and manual software.)

7) Verify that the drive has > 27 GB free space (At least 25 GB is needed for creating dumps)

9) Remove all unused SATA devices

10) Uninstall non-Microsoft disk encryption software

11) Run disk cleanup to clean temporary and system files

I've made no changes to prevent it from updating. I am on 1709 now and it is currently downloading 1803 now. Once it's done, I'll do the other items and post back.
