Getting Blue screens after switch to ssd

Hello,

yesterday I replaced my aging hdd with a sdd in an attempt to keep my old pc somewhat usable. I installed a fresh copy of windows 10 since I did not need anything on the hdd. I have experienced about 10 blue screens since then.

I am able to constantly get the blue screen while preforming 2 actions.

1) attempting to install pending windows updates
2) attempting to open a 20 page google doc for one of my classes.

I think I also caused a blue screen when attempting to download a few games off of steam.

Today I intentionally avoided downloading anything off of steam or playing with windows updates. I had no blue screens until I attempted to open the google doc(which was when I discovered it also caused blue screens)

I have attached the zip file. Any ideas would be appreciated.

No dumps in the zip file. Event viewer does not indicate any BSODs (Bluescreens) have occurred. Not much I can do without dumps. I see 13 of these entries:

I double checked and I do have it set up to make the logs. Would there be any other reason it is not creating?

Have you tried changing the RAM? In my experience, RAM is the biggest cause of Blue screens.

Run the Beta log collector. It's listed at the bottom of the BSOD posting instructions link. It collects additional data. Let's see if that gives us any more info. Post the resulting zip file here please.

Testing RAM rather than straight out replacing it is a good idea.

Follow this tutorial: MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

MemTest86+ is a diagnostic tool designed to test Random Access Memory (RAM) for faults. MemTest86+ will verify that:

RAM will accept and keep random patterns of data sent to it
There are no errors when different parts of memory try to interact
There are no conflicts between memory addresses

Memtest86+ runs from bootable media to isolate the RAM from the system, no other components are taken into account during the test.

Warning

MemTest86+ needs to run for at least 8 passes to be anywhere near conclusive, anything less will not give a complete analysis of the RAM.

If you are asked to run MemTest86+ by a Ten Forums member make sure you run the full 8 passes for conclusive results. If you run less than 8 passes you will be asked to run it again.

Note

MemTest86+ has been known to discover errors in RAM in later passes than the eighth pass. This is for information only; if you feel there is a definite problem with the RAM and 8 passes have shown no errors feel free to continue for longer.

Running 8 passes of MemTest86+ is a long and drawn out exercise and the more RAM you have the longer it will take. It's recommended to run MemTest86+ just before you go to bed and leave it overnight.

Take a picture when done and post in the forum please.

I ran the mem test but after 7 hours only 3 had been done. I'll try to run the 8 cycles this weekend. As for the other file I have attached it.

Are you running any types of "Cleaners". CCleaner or Wise Cleaner as a couple of examples. There are all kinds of tools out there that "Tune" your PC. If so please disable them to ensure they are not deleting dumps.

Have you run a simple sfc /scannow

Have you tried reseating cables to SSD and a different port on MB.

You didn't mention the make model of SSD. Are there any tools available to ensure its firmware is up to date. Could you post make model of SSD ? Could help with Google searches.

I dont have any cleaners installed. Thinking back I do not recall seeing an error code on the blue screen and it usually goes away fairly quick. Is it possible the computer is restarting before creating the file?

Running the sfc /scannow came back with no errors.

I'll try looking at my cables again but I think I only have one port on the motherboard for a hard drive.

The ssd is a 500 gb samsung 860 evo.

If the problem is in the storage stack or the actual storage hardware, it makes sense that the OS cannot dump the contents of RAM to disk.

I see you have setup your SSD to operate in "RAID" mode in BIOS/UEFI and you are using AMD's RAID driver (amdsb.sys).

Try running in AHCI mode to rule out your raid driver as the problem.

Launch msconfig
Boot Tab -> Check "Safe boot" and "Minimal" -> Click "Apply"
Reboot into UEFI/BIOS and change drive operation from "RAID" to "AHCI"
Boot to Windows (which will now be in safe mode)
Run msconfig again and disable safe boot by unchecking those boxes.
Reboot again

When i attempted to boot the pc after changing it to AHCI it would spend some time on the windows logo screen and then blue screen with the error inaccessible boot device
