Without the crash dump file it is difficult to advise but a store exception tends to suggest something connected with the hard drive, is it possible that the drive is turning off when you shut the lid as part of the power saving features and has trouble coming back to life?

I did find details in the power report of the charging and draining cycles. The two bugchecks recorded were after a period of 25 minutes use and 11 minutes use.

Have you tried changing what happens to the disk when idle?

The error you cited earlier in yelllow highlight is a license issue

zbook thought my system had a licensing error in the other thread I started, but yours is not passing the check for a valid license, which causes the powershell to exit and not continue.

    Waiting for licensingdiag.exe to finish...
Killed licensingdiag.exe due to 60 second timeout.
    Creating Windows license report...
WARNING: C:\Users\Mark Hawkins\AppData\Local\Temp\genuine.xml does not exist.
    **********************
    Windows PowerShell transcript end

You need to ensure you have a valid license applied, both to honor the agreement you have with the forum but to also ensure you get Windows updates or upgrades, as they may block if they detect a license violation.

Hope this helps with moving forward with your investigation.

I currently have the disk set for sleep at never for both plugged in and unplugged (did it through the power options menu).

Should I do it through the command prompt as well, sorta like backup so to speak?

To Helpful hw man, this is the windows that came with my Dell XPS I purchased through Dell (not an upgrade from 8 or etc) so I couldn't tell you why it may show an error, could be troublesome. I may contact Microsoft to see if they have thoughts as they have reviewed the system as well for the windows support before as well as showing me where the key is (control panel -> system-> windows activation). I also get Windows updates all the time (the force the updates unfortunately, wish you could say no to some), so I'm definitely at a loss then if that's a problem.

I swear my Dell seems to find more interesting ways to mess with me... the Lenovo I have I replaced memory, hard drives ( disk to M.2 with change of BIOS for booting), and etc hasn't had a single windows issue... go figure the stock one I didn't modify is the trouble maker.

You may have found a bug in the Beta licensingdiag.exe for Dell OEM

My system does not have a file named genuine.xml that would have been generated in the location your logs showed:

    Waiting for licensingdiag.exe to finish...
Killed licensingdiag.exe due to 60 second timeout.
    Creating Windows license report...
WARNING: C:\Users\Mark Hawkins\AppData\Local\Temp\genuine.xml does not exist.

It's possible this file is copied into the log bundle after it is generated. The real question is why was there a timeout on your Dell OEM system? Is there an application event associated with this program hang? You could try to find it in your Beta log generator folder and run it by hand in a powershell window, you might find there is a debug option if there is a help option.

Sorry, I'm not an expert on the log generation, but I find these tools very useful for debugging issues especially on my Windows 7 desktop at home, or an Asus laptop that has power issues.

According to Microsoft my windows copy is fine and registered fine, however the rep couldn't tell me why the log program from here showed an error as they said "it isn't out product so we can't tell you why," asked if there should be a text file or etc there and there was a pause and not that they are aware of. I know you get stock answers from most over the phone so I'm wagering they may not really know what I was asking.

I asked to be contacted by another rep to escalate it just to be sure to maybe talk with a supervisor or etc as I wanted to be sure there wasn't an issue with my windows copy even though I was told not to worry. I honestly don't anticipate hearing back from them.

Strangely I've been testing it on an off and still got that error constantly till Wednesday when Dell forced a graphics card update on me... Didn't touch it much Thursday, but I had no crashed yesterday at all. Not sure if that is related or not.

Gonna continue to mess with it over the weekend and see if the issues seem to be resolved magically or what.

@Spectrum needs to comment on why the log collector failed to generate the genuine.txt file.

Keep using your system and if you get another BSOD post a new set of logfiles.

It looks like it's timing out during the initial generation of the xml file. It may be that licensingdiag.exe is just taking longer than 60 seconds (the current timeout limit) to generate it, or it's encountering an error.

@CaliByWayOfKS run the following from an elevated PowerShell prompt:
    Code:
    licensingdiag.exe /report $home\Desktop\licensefile.xml
If it is working properly, it should generate a file called "licensefile.xml" on your desktop. Otherwise, post the console output, which may include relevant error messages.

This is what I got running that command in the powershell.

It it also populated a "licensefile" on the desktop too.

About how long did it take to generate that license file on your desktop?

Umm, unfortunately I didn't think to time it. I'd say in the 15 sec maybe?
