    BSOD after update last week

    Hi all,
Last week on shutting down I was prompted to install updates before shutting down as is normal. Did this but the next morning on booting got the dreaded BSOD.

List of stopcodes generated after many attempts to boot up (in no particular order)

    *PFN LIST CORRUPT
    *IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
*PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA
    *SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED
    *SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION
*ATTEMPTED EXECUTE OF NON EXECUTE MEMORY
    *K MODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED
    *DRIVER OVERRAN STACK BUFFER
    *DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION
    *WEHA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR

The machine works ok in safe mode.

    Currently on 1803 17134.345

Lenovo Ideapad 520-151KB 2TB HDD 16GB Nvidia MX150 Intel 8550U has worked without fault for 10 months.

I have a very recent full system image (Macrium reflect) which on restoration did not make any difference.

    Any leads?

    Thanks

You have a bunch of missing drivers on your PC:

    Attachment 208494

Get that straightened out first and see how you system behaves.

Look in Device Manager to start and see if there are any yellow marks. Video and audio and WiFi are the ones showing as problematic in msinfo32.

    Thanks for your input Sir.
I have several of the yellow warnings but they indicate drivers not loaded due to being in safe mode. The log file I posted was also done while in safe mode.
I'll have to put in more time I'm afraid.

Please fill out your System Specs in My Computer. See here: System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums
The more information you can provide the better.

Three of the dumps were null (0 length). The other two had this info in them:

    101418-28718-01.dmp

I can't tell what version of the Nvidia driver you have installed but please do the following:

Remove and install latest Nvidia drivers:

I suggest completely uninstalling the Nvidia display drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from WagnardMobile here: Official Download Here. Do this in Safe Mode. Then get the latest driver for your Nvidia card here: NVIDIA Driver Downloads

Then do a custom install of only the NVidia graphics driver and the PhysX driver.

Next, look for the latest driver for your Synaptics Touchpad. Uninstall what is there now and install the new one.

Reboot and see if that has helpred.

Thank you for the further information and tips.. I'll be able to get to it tomorrow.

Yesterday I restored to an earlier full system image from 3 weeks ago which went ok and am now on
1803 17134.285 but the result is no different.

Is it possible there is faulty RAM? I'll set up a test for that as well.

    Thanks

    ===================================================
Follow this tutorial: MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

MemTest86+ is a diagnostic tool designed to test Random Access Memory (RAM) for faults. MemTest86+ will verify that:

    • RAM will accept and keep random patterns of data sent to it
    • There are no errors when different parts of memory try to interact
    • There are no conflicts between memory addresses

Memtest86+ runs from bootable media to isolate the RAM from the system, no other components are taken into account during the test.

    warning   Warning
MemTest86+ needs to run for at least 8 passes to be anywhere near conclusive, anything less will not give a complete analysis of the RAM.

If you are asked to run MemTest86+ by a Ten Forums member make sure you run the full 8 passes for conclusive results. If you run less than 8 passes you will be asked to run it again.

    Note   Note
MemTest86+ has been known to discover errors in RAM in later passes than the eighth pass. This is for information only; if you feel there is a definite problem with the RAM and 8 passes have shown no errors feel free to continue for longer.

Running 8 passes of MemTest86+ is a long and drawn out exercise and the more RAM you have the longer it will take. It's recommended to run MemTest86+ just before you go to bed and leave it overnight.

Take a picture when done and post in the forum please.

When an image is restored it may capture problems that were in place at the time of the backup.
This can include problems with drivers or operating system etc.

The "My Computer" section displays Asus however the logs display Lenovo.
Please update the specs in the "My Computer" section.
    Several computers can be displayed.
System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums | Windows 10 Tutorials
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

There are two log collectors: DM and BETA.
The BETA log collector will collect more useful folders and files.
At sometime it will replace the DM log collector.
Please run the the BETA log collector and post a new zip into this thread.
The BETA log collector link is in the bottom half of this web page:

Please run the Microsoft activation troubleshooter:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...troubleshooter

    Code:
    LicensingStatus : SL_LICENSING_STATUS_UNLICENSED

Run the BETA log collector once the license is properly activated and post a new zip into the thread.

Open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for: C;\Windows\memory.dmp
Zip the file > post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

    Code:
    Crash dump found at C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP
    Creation date: 10/19/2018 10:40:40
    Size on disk: 507 MB

When available please post an image of the Memtest86+ version 5.01 test results:
The computer has 16 GB RAM.
The testing is done by passes and not by time.
It takes approximately 1 - 2 hours / GB RAM
A significant portion of the testing can be done overnight.
The more the passes the better the testing conditions.
A minimum of 8 passes are needed.
If there is just 1 error you can abort testing.
When the testing has completed please make sure that a camera or smartphone camera is used to take a picture.
Post an image of the test results into the thread.
