At this point, anything is a possibility. I would try a clean install of the drivers before an RMA.

Download the new Nvidia Graphics driver first from Latest NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers for Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums to your Desktop. Uninstall all of the Nvidia drivers, beginning with the Nvidia Audio drivers. if it asks for a reboot, do so. Then uninstall all of the remaining nvidia graphics drivers including GeForce making sure to uninstall the graphics driver LAST. It will ask you to reboot. Reboot.

When you get back to your desktop immediately start the new drivers install. Choose graphics driver only then choose custom install

    Attachment 205475

Then deselect everything except the Graphics Driver and PhysX. This will be best for testing if it is the drivers. Do not install anything else, including GeForce experience. Also, make certain the 'Clean Install' box is checked.

    Attachment 205478

Then continue with the install. Even though it will not tell you to do so, reboot after the install. See if that makes any difference.
Sounds good. I'll try! Just to confirm: uninstalling the driver's is going to be done through device manager? Should I get some kind of driver uninstaller?

No, uninstalling through Control Panel (Category View) 'Uninstall a Program'

I used to always recommend Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe mode ( Option 2 Boot into Safe Mode on Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials). But the last time I tried it I had to restore an image I had just done. I don't know why but there was no way to boot into safe mode, or boot at all. So, I am not recommending DDU any longer, although I used it for years without problems.

Speaking of that, If you don't already, I highly recommend using Imaging with Macrium Reflect free. It will save you a whole lot of trouble if you use it regularly.

    Hi,
I've never used safe mode to use DDU it does state it but probably because of 10's nasty habits
Just disconnect from the internet so 10 doesn't install a different driver version. done.

Mike, check the Driver Store. Windows doesn't need the internet, no different than Windows 7.

I have now done a clean install of only the graphics driver and physX, following the steps you gave me. Hopefully this fixes the issue. What is the plan onwards?

For right now, the plan is seeing if that works or not. If you are asking about future drivers, I always install all graphics drivers that way. If this works you can try installing GeForce Experience if you want to. You really do not need the other drivers and I have no idea why Nvidia included some of them. You already have audio, HDMI and USB drivers. Too many drivers can cause driver conflicts. Very few people need/use the 3D drivers.

Good luck. I hope this works for you. Let us know how you do.

Okay thank you so much. That was very helpful. I will monitor the performance and report back if it seems fixed.
Quick question: I installed Macrium Reflect and made a "Recovery Boot Menu Option". Now every time I turn on my computer I have to manually select windows 10. Do you know how to bypass this selection screen?

If you hold down the Windows key and press R you should get a run box. Type msconfig in the run box and go to the boot tab. Select the macrium entry and remove it. You will still be able to boot into it if needed by using the one time boot menu key.
