    Running out of ideas.

It does not appear to be a Windows error, you ran sfc /scannow and reported no issues.

You said that with no other software running, clean boot it still failed.

You change they way you log off and just did shutdown and it failed.

You bypassed Fast Startup process and it failed.

My last idea would be an inplace repair. If has fixed a lot of issues on a lot of different fronts. It is a non destructive process but I always recommend backing up personal data.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Given WD has its own forum maybe some of their techs provide support and know the answers. From scanning the forum this is not a widespread issue.

When you shutdown your WD device is connected, correct?

Yes, the WD device is connected upon shutdown. I do not want to do an in-place upgrade, because I don't want to lose my HP OEM software. This computer is a very expensive computer. I would do it if it wasn't expensive. It was also a gift.

An inplace repair should not cause your OEM to be lost.

This is not a reset or a rest and keep data.

Do you use MAcrium Reflect. You could Image and then restore if you don't like results.

I would check with WD then... assuming this device is not that old you should be eligible for support.

Please post back what you find.

@Caledon Ken, issue has been fixed. I contacted WD and they told me to remove all of the software related to the drive since I don't back up my computer to it anyhow, and it should fix the annoying error message. The message went away after removing the software, of course.

    Great Jesse.

Never really explained why their software causes issue but it did as you said remove the annoying message.

Please consider have your pictures on more than one storage drive.
