    BSOD -Lenovo Z41-70,THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER dxgkrnl.sys

    Hey all,
I got two Lenovo Z41-70 with the same BSOD, one is Core I7 and the other is I5
Both got the same GPU -AMD R7 M360
    What i'have tested already:
*HDD check with Mhdd -ok the other laptop is with an new SSD..
*running Memtest UEFI version (7 something, the latest) - ok
    *Clean install both of them
*both running the latest Windows 10 64bit avaiable (genuine)
*Both updated to the latest BIOS available in Lenovo website
*Temperatures are all good (in the i5 I clean and replaced the thermal compound)
i thinking that it's something with the GPU\GPU driver, in bluescreenview it says that it coused by this driver dxgkrnl.sys

after i cleaned install it i almost install nothing, just update (windows update), after that i install BurnInTest a lot of time, I didn't got any BSOD, than, I downloaded from Lenovo website the :Intel MEI driver and chipset driver and- the AMD driver..
I installed them, then when tried to install the AMD driver I got an error saying:
"Application install: install package failure" and it closes the setup, I restarted the pc and tried when I restarted the pc I got the BSOD again (first time after clean install)
    Please help me
    Thanks!

The dump file points to the AMD driver as the most likely fault.

Update driver from link below or run auto update tool

I did update it to the latest drivers available from AMD website before (before the clean install in one pc and after in the other), the problem persists.
Do you think the driver in the link will act differently?
also, an update, I changed on both laptops the graphics card the pc will use from switchable mode to use just the Intel GPU, no BSOD since then (I ran a lot of "Burnin test" tests).

    thanks for the reply!

Did you update the AMD driver since your post? The driver installed is clearly not the latest version as you can see in the code box of the dump file it is from 6/22/15. Since you changed it to the internal Intel GPU and the problem is resolved that is more confirmation that the AMD driver is more than likely the problem and if you are okay staying with that GPU then hopefully it will be solved.

    thanks for your reply!
the driver in the log indeed not the latest, that on the laptop that I keep clean as i could, just windows updates and so.
But, I did update it to the latest update from AMD and keep getting BSODs.
that's maybe the solution if nothing work... hope to find something better
I'm not a fan of Lenovo and this is one of the reasons, if two identical laptops suffer from the same problem, I guess there are many others, hope they will fix it

    Hi msti,

Do you happen to have software that you use to regulate when to use which GPU? Say for normal stuff you use the Intel GPU and for things like gaming you use the AMD GPU. This kind of software often comes with the AMD or NVIDIA drivers for laptops.

    Hi,
No, I didn't get to use it because of the BSODs, but still, that says that when it automatically switches to the AMD I will get BSOD, right?

    It's merely a suspicion.

Did you use such software prior the BSODs?

What is the make and model of your laptop? A lot of times these laptops that include an integrated and other GPU will'only work properly with the drivers for that particular model from the manufacturer website. Have you installing only those GPU drivers?
