    machine check exception 0x09c and machine service exception 0x03 BSODs


    im having issues with blue screens once again after months of not getting any, they stopped when i decided to wipe windows and for some reason the returned i have tried reimage and that hasn't helped.

    i just want these to stop im not sure if its system files that are causing this or drivers or hardware.

    any help with this would be great

    Welcome to the Ten Forums BSOD forum.

    The bugchecks were mostly 9C.
    Another bugcheck was 3B.

    The 9C bugchecks have become WHEA 0x124 bugchecks.
    These bugchecks often indicate underlying hardware problems.

    The major hardware components will be tested: CPU, GPU, RAM, Drive

    For all tests / steps please post images into the thread.
    In case there are problems posting images please use one drive or drop box share links.

    1) Update the system specs in the "My Computer" section:

    System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums:

    In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
    After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

    Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, port replicator, docking station, USB wireless network card, etc.)

    2) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) chkdsk /scan
    6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    7) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting.

    8) Sometimes there are problems in the bios that produce bsod.

    9) Please check to see if this is the most up to date version.

    10) Open the website for the computer or motherboard manufacturer to view the drivers and post a URL or hyperlink into the thread.

    11) To ensure that there are no improper bios settings please reset the bios.
    12) Sometimes there can be failure to boot after resetting the bios.
    13) Backup the computer files to another drive or to the cloud.
    14) Make a backup image using Macrium:

    15) And please create a brand new restore point.

    16) If the computer has Ccleaner > click windows tab > scroll down to system and advanced > post an image into the thread

    17) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings
    a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery into the thread.
    b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > under performance options > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory tab into the thread

    Once the bios is reset and there is no overclocking:

    18) Choose one of the temperature monitoring software applications: Speecy, HW monitor, Speed fan:

    19) Run Prime95 - Stress Test Your CPU

    a) Record the maximum temperature and post the maximum temperature into the thread
    b) Record test duration and post the uninterrupted test duration into the thread
    c) Aim for testing > 3 hrs and abort testing as needed for freezing, temperature changes (see link)
    d) Use the Microsoft snipping tool to post images into the thread.

    20) Run memtest86+ version 5.01 for at least 8 passes.

    This may take hours so plan to run it overnight.
    a) Please make sure you use the Memtest86+ version 5.01 with the link below.

    The testing is done not by time but by passes.
    The more passes the better.
    There are a significant number of false negatives if fewer than 8 passes are made.
    A false negative is a test pass when there is malfunctioning RAM.
    There is 16 GB of RAM on the computer.
    Memtest86+ version 5.01 testing takes approximately 1 - 2 hours /GB RAM
    Just 1 error is a fail and you can abort testing.
    Then test 1 RAM module at a time in the same DIMM each for 8 or more passes.
    b) When Memtest86+ version 5.01 has completed 8 or more passes use a camera or smart phone camera to take a picture and post an image into the thread.

    21) Run HD Tune:

    a) Health (SMART)
    b) Benchmark
    c) Full error scan

    22) Run FurMark - GPU Stress Test Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

    Please make note of the importance of temperature monitoring and aborting the test in the GPU link.
    a) Record the maximum temperature and post the maximum temperature into the thread.
    b) Record the test duration and post the uninterrupted test duration into the thread.
    c) Aim for testing 1 hour.
    d) Use the Microsoft snipping tool to post images into the thread.

    23) All of these test should be done with the bios reset and no over clocking.

    24) For each of the above tests please record maximum temperatures.

    25) And please make sure that you use the Microsoft snipping tool to post images of each into the thread.

    26) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste: chkdsk /x /f /r
    C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /x /f /r
    The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.

    Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
    process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
    checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type: Y
    reboot

    Run the command on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /x /f /r C: or chkdsk /x /f /r D: changing the drive letter to the applicable drive.
    This may take many hours to run so plan to run it overnight.

    27) Use the information in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer.

    i may have stopped a minuet early on prime 95 if the minuet matters ill redo it max temperature any core went to was 100, also in the screenshot is the advanced setting for ccleaner, my computer isn't overclocked and i checked the bios a few weeks ago as i thought i would be out of date but its the most current 1 i can find unless its been updated recently also ive made no changes to the bios since this pc was built

    also added are the startup and recovery and vertual memory tabs

    from CMD, also none of the option for 4 were accepted in cmd

    1) For Ccleaner options was clicked.
    Instead please click Cleaner > Windows tab > scroll down to system and advanced > post an image into the thead

    2) For startup and recovery > system failure > un-check automatically restart
    For each BSOD you should now see the BSOD window with : ( and a bugcheck.
    Sometimes a misbehaving driver may displayed in the form *.sys.
    If you see the misbehaving driver please record it and post it into the thread.
    There is a % recorder for each BSOD. If you see it make sure it rises to 100% so that there is sufficient time for the dump file to be created before the computer is rebooted.

    3) Update the specs in the "My Computer" section:

    In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
    After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

    For Prime95 were there other images?
    Were temperatures recorded?
    Were temperatures consistently at 100 or were they spikes?
    Please update the system specs for the cooling and other components.
    Open the computer case > check fans > clean dust


    For Ccleaner:
    Un-check Windows log files

    For specs please add PSU and any other additional information.

    sorry forgot to get a picture for that lowest temperature was 79 during the test and it was normally between that and 100 average cup temp was below 90 for the entire test tho

    all spec info updated, bios updated also, i recently had issues with my mouse which i should have mentioned my apologies, so i had to replace replace it, going to try running my computer as it is for the time being if any more bluescreens occur, ill run through prime 95 again and get the temperature also with the memtest and gpu test before asking anymore questions.

    after getting a few blue blue screens 1 form windows and 1 form the driver verifier regards to my nvidia drivers (despite them being up to date) so i did a clean install of them i also did the hd tune scan.

    i also did the gpu test max temp was 81 temperatures stayed between 79 and 81 for a lot of the test, also im not sure if this is normal with this but during the test i saw the image lagging every so often.

    For the clean install did you delete all partitions > make an unallocated drive > reinstall Windows 10 1803 using a Windows 10 iso?
    Then installed drivers from the motherboard manufacturer website?
    Then installed drivers from component manufacturer websites?
    Which tests (GPU, CPU, Drive, etc.) were done before and which ones after the clean install and driver replacements?
    Were there any BSOD after the clean install and replacement of drivers?
    If there are any BSOD please post a new BETA log collector zip and memory dump.
