    Minidump folder gets emptied, why?

My dump files in C:Windows\Minidump keep getting deleted.

I had two dump files from a week ago and now they are gone.

I use CCleaner, but I have the minidump folder set to exclude from cleaning.

Any ideas why my dump files keep getting deleted?

I think recurrent system's maintenance gets them cleared, possibly daily.

Go to /minidump folder after you encounter BSOD and copy them elsewhere.

    Hi idahosurge,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Do you use disk cleanup programs that are similar to Ccleaner?

Unless there's some sort of a bug, either in Windows or in any program you use, dumps aren't deleted by anything besides a few rules Windows uses with crashes (max 50 dumps saved to preserve space).

I don't use any of such tools, I think - or at least I'm not aware of such process happening in background? And yet /minidump folder was cleared quitre regularly few weeks ago when I was troubleshooting some obscure issue.

The only remedy was to retrieve DMP files before they were deleted and copy them elsewhere.

Interestingly, /minidump folder on my Windows 8.1 laptop remains intact since I got it back in 2013.

There does seem to be a problem with the latest builds of W10 - minidump files are being deleted by the system and I can't find what is causing it.
