    BSOD on restart with Machine Check Exception


    Hello, I've been having BSOD issues on Windows 10 builds 1607-1803. I have in the past been using build 1511 for a year without problems on this HPE-450f desktop. This particular BSOD occurs during a restart and apparently only during restarts of any kind including with Cumulative updates, manual graphics card updates, or even during a general restart instead of Shutdown.

    Cumulative update restarts will climb to 30% and the circling dots will freeze which will instantly BSOD with Machine_Check_Exception. Once this happens the system is froze and I'm required to reboot by holding the power button down. Each and every bootup from this point on will BSOD during the circling dots phase with the same Machine_Check_Exception while Windows 10 is trying to load.

    I am able to get into safe mode to run the DM log collector tool but I'm not sure if a proper dump file is being created for analyzing it comes back with path not found. Any tips or workaround for this would be appreciated. I'm including the DM log files.

    Yes, I'm still having the BSOD issue while restarting. I'm able to install, run Windows 10 fine and it will shutdown properly but anytime I hit a restart it will put me in a BSOD loop. I can get into safe mode to look around but don't know how to recover for a normal boot without an OS re-install.

    Please fill in your system specs
    Please follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.
    The PSU, cooling and other stuff are NOT mentioned in the tool.

    In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'. After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

    How old is your system?

    As the original HPE-450f comes/came with a AMD GPU, was there a stability related reason for going for a NVIDIA GPU?

    This system was released in late 2010. The original GPU on this system was an ATI Radeon HD 5770 but I swapped it out for a EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti about 3 years ago for gaming purposes.

    I do have an identical system to this one HPE-450f in another room with the original GPU the ATI Radeon HD 5770 and that one is able to run Windows 10 1607-1803 fine without any of the BSOD on restart issues.

    I have had this BSOD problem on this system starting with Windows 10 1607, I was running 1511 for a year or so without problems. I have tried a clean install in the past but the BSOD was the same on restarts.
