After changing some BIOS settings, memtest is now running.

What were the steps you made to get Memtest85+ version 5.01 to work?

I had to disable Fast Boot and Secure Boot and then enable CSM.

Here are the memtest results. I'll continue following the steps tomorrow. Just one question: should I try to cause another crash before running WhoCrashed?

The Whocrashed was used for crash dump testing.
It may be useful for you to analyze the dumps.
The tools that we use run commands and perform a deeper analysis.
If windows driver verifier is used it is useful to have Whocrashed to perform a basic analysis of the dumps.

The memtest86+ version 5.01 had 9 passes for 32 GB RAM = pass

Any BSOD crashes should produce mini dumps. The mini dumps can then be debugged to identify misbehaving hardware and software drivers or malfunctioning hardware.

Something that I just realized: could the minidumps not show up because of the issue I mentioned regarding no proper BSOD showing up at all?

As I said, the system simply freezes and then a solid color fills the screen. The laptop won't reboot automatically if I set it to off in the settings, but the blue screen itself didn't show even then.

Crashes can occur without BSOD and crashes can occur with BSOD.
When you perform a crash dump test > click analyze > see if Whocrashed was able to analyze the dump.
If it was able to analyze the dump then the configuration is set up.
If it was not able to analyze then the configuration may need modification.
Run the log collector after the crash dump test and post a zip into the thread.

Just a thought. A common symptom of overheating CPUs (in the days before auto-throttling) is freezing without the system actually rebooting - it just freezes 'as is'. Can you download and run the following two utilities and report on your GPU and CPU temperatures?

    Core Temp
    GPU-Z

Start those programmes and then run a stress test that punishes the CPU and GPU in windowed mode (so you can watch the monitors) such as 3D Furmark and report what kind of temperatures the CPU and GPU are hitting?

That was the first thing I tried in my tests even before sending it to Asus the first time.

    All temperatures are normal.
