    BSOD stop code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    Hi Team,
I just experienced bsod with code stop code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, unfortunately, i wasnt quick enough to take a screenshot of the window.
In the attachment is the dump file.
    Attachment 172878

Can anyone help track down which driver/component triggered the crash.

Windows driver verifier is a tool which is used to find misbehaving drivers.
It will stimulate drivers to repetitively produce BSOD until misbehaving drivers are fixed or until the tool is turned off.

    1) backup all files to another drive or to the cloud
    2) make a backup image using Macrium:
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free
    3) save the image to another drive or to the cloud
    4) learn the 3 methods to turn off windows driver verifier using the windows advanced troubleshooting menu
    5) once all of the above is accomplished you can turn on the tool
    6) the tool will be used for 48 hours
    7) after the last BSOD it will be used for an additional 36 hours of typical computer use

Use this link for the windows drive verifier test settings:
Driver Verifier-- tracking down a mis-behaving driver. - Microsoft Community
Use this link for the methods to turn off windows driver verifer
Enable and Disable Driver Verifier in Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

For each BSOD post a new zip into the thread:
    log collector v2-beta08.zip

Make a brand new restore point before turning on the tool.
Methods to turn off are all through the Windows advanced troubleshooting menu.
    a) startup options (not startup repair) > click reset > select #6 safe mode with command prompt > type:
    verifier /reset
    b) command prompt > Administrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe > X:\sources > type:
    verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail
    c) system restore

The methods to turn off windows driver verifier should only be done in the order above and advance if the prior method fails. If system restore is used it often leads to a loss of the BSOD mini dump file and little progress is made in the troubleshooting.

In the left lower corner search type: system > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings > under startup and recovery click settings > under system failure un-check automatically restart

    Hi
Thank you for the reply and instructions.
I followed steps as described on the forum:
Use this link for the methods to turn off windows driver verifer
Enable and Disable Driver Verifier in Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
I selected only 3 options as per instructions:

    • I/O Verification
    • Force pending I/O requests
    • IRP logging

System was running fine and no BSOD happen.

Then I tried settings as described on windows forum
    >>Use this link for the windows drive verifier test settings:
    >>Driver Verifier-- tracking down a mis-behaving driver. - Microsoft Community

After the first reboot, windows booted and after username login prompt, while loading user profiles BSOD happen.
I let it run for the second time, and exactly at same point system crashed.

    Stop code: DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION
    What failed: vstor2 mntapi20 shared.sys

Looking into the system for any of the file names, I found that this is Vmware driver Virtual Storage Volume Driver.

I doubt that this crash has anything to do with the first one, but anyway i am attaching crash dumps just in case.
I am thinking to exclude VMWARE drivers from verify tool and let it run again.

    1) open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    4) chkdsk /scan
    5) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    6) Uninstall VMW software then re-install it.

    7) Uninstall Intel rapid storage technology then re-install it.
