Tried the killer network driver suite, it could not remove the old files. Tried uninstalling from settings but both drivers fail... So I downloaded the file from Gigabyte again. Tried removing, failed again, so I just repaired it instead (which was successful but probably did nothing...).

    Look in both areas:
    Device manager > uninstall
    Control panel > uninstall

Yep, uninstalled from device manager. However, when I tried to install the driver from the Rivet site you linked, it came up with no device detected. So I had to repair with the Gigabyte killer driver and restart.

So got Windows defender running and uninstalled Bitdefender (hopefully that was the big cause of bsods)
    Updated the asmedia driver.
    Repaired the killer driver.

Will report back in a couple of weeks and hopefully close the thread. Thanks again zbook (I love this site!).

Thanks for all the support, marked as solved. Not sure what did it, but zbook's & others guides seem to have resolved the problem. BTW I had a flickering issue whilst browsing since the Windows 10 Creators update. Adding a wee bit of juice to the OC seems to have sorted it.
