Mail Notification Question
-
something has certainly changed after doing all that
earlier today if I opened the mail app and then minimised it, after a few mins it would suspend and the ram usage went down to 0.1
now with it minimised, it is using its normal ram, about 35 meg even when minimised
this is after checking it for an hour
EDIT: I has now dropped to 0.1 meg used, this is after about an hour of it being idle
will need to test more tomorrow to see if any changes in notifications
Well it looks like you are getting there,
Will stick with you till the end as I don't like to see members not being able to use the apps.
when last update went in and I clicked on mail and it opened straight away and been running like it now for 2-3 days no problem
Nice to be able to get rid of incredimal

certainly some improvement
I closed email when I went to watch tv last night, I had one mail item in action centre, as expected when I checked a few hours later action centre was empty, so no change here
After this is opened up mail and minimised it (some reason this mali had been marked read????), I left mail running overnight (for the last 12 hours), this morning when I checked, all mail received overnight was in the action centre and live tile was showing the correct info
Been here before only for things to break the next day, so will see how it performs today

How it is this morning is how it should be
so looks like it is starting to act normal also check your junk files by clicking more and see how many of them you have and clear them as that is where your unsafe ones are put,
Also thanks for updating us

Thanks to both of you for replying and updating me.
Leaving the Mail App open and minimized on the taskbar clearly has a good effect on notifications and the "live tile".
My current line of inquiry is what changes when the Mail App closes?
I have not found anything that changes in the Task Manager so far.
If you right click on the Mail App on your taskbar you can "pin this program to the taskbar".
This makes it easier to open and close while checking status in the Task Manager.
When the Mail App on the taskbar has a blue (yours might be a different color) underline, the app is OPEN.
With no underline the app is CLOSED.

With it open it is acting how I would expect, but it should also give notifications reliably when it is closed
I have done the powershell command again this morning, but I did it for all users instead of just me
So far only had one email this morning, that came through with notification and tile update, with the mail app closed (as it should)
Will monitor today with the mail app closed see how it goes (just open to read mails then shut down), if that starts failing again, will monitor for a few days with mail open to check it is fully reliable that way

What do you see as memory usage in taskmanager after you have closed it
mine initially shows as using 30 to 50 or so meg
after a while it drops down to 0.1 when it gets suspended
after a while of it being on 0.1 (could be couple of hours) it eventually just dies
this might be normal, but if I compare it to calendar, which is part of the same app, this is always in taskmanager using 0.1meg, unless I open it than it goes up while its open

Hi mine is orange over the top and I was ill last night so my friend just closed the lid on laptop as soon as I opened it this morning without doing anything all my mail Notifications came up.
I never close mine as I get mail from other forums I am on 24/7 and having used a third party app for a long time have set this app to do the same.
Also I don't use IE11 or Crome only Edge which I love, have had no crashes since installing windows 10 and stopping IE11
Did you see how I have mine set out on mail, not on Outlook they are still separate
Will stay with you until you close thread as solved ok in case you run into trouble again

Working fine all morning, notifications came into action centre, read the emails and closed app and all was well
just been for lunch, came back and noticed on my my phone I had 2 new emails, nothing at all in action centre on PC, broken again
checked event viewer for any clues and found a defender update 5 mins after I went for lunch, nothing else showing for that time period
coincidence or linked somehow?

Seems like something in defender is causing this to happen but cant help you on that as I don't use it and don't trust it
That is why I use the Anti virus I trust
never had trouble with it and when I installed windows 10 did not even shut it off and it came with it ok
So recheck something in defender that is making it happen
Also sounds come up as they should as well

Mine stays on 0.3 when it is closed (suspended not minimized to taskbar), this has been since last night so it seems permanent.
