Mail Notification Question

Will do :)
That is how I have always done it, but I was looking at the MS forums about start menu/action centre not working and the suggestion was run things in the order I just posted
I thought it was worth a try
I got my info from a Microsoft MVP, the Microsoft forum has lots of mistakes.
Some of the worst are when Microsoft employees post links that do not work with Windows 10 (the links are for Win 8.1).
Seen stuff like that way too many times. I trust a Microsoft MVP. I will look for the link he gave me and post it soon.

Here it is, ZigZag is the MVP. The title says it all.

Not sure I have ever run a powershell scan. Do you have a link that explains it?

This is the one I run
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3...ws-8-10-a.html
If you do it for current user only it will re register just the apps you have installed
doing it for all users seems to do the same plus re install any apps that came pre installed on machine
I usually just do the one for current user

Thanks I'm only using one user account for now. I have to go out, will check your link when I return.
See you later (sort of). Good Luck, my live tile is still working 18 hours & 33 emails.

Have a good day
I might be gone when you get back, but will check back on the thread tomorrow

something has certainly changed after doing all that
earlier today if I opened the mail app and then minimised it, after a few mins it would suspend and the ram usage went down to 0.1
now with it minimised, it is using its normal ram, about 35 meg even when minimised
this is after checking it for an hour
EDIT: I has now dropped to 0.1 meg used, this is after about an hour of it being idle
will need to test more tomorrow to see if any changes in notifications

I follow this topic with great interest. Fyi, I also did some small testing : I left my email app open in the taskbar, the notifications stayed in the action centre for hours. When I restarted my PC after it went to sleep, even then the notifications were there. Even the live tiles worked fine (small info text + exact number of mails). Then I ran a quick scan with Defender, and unbelievable, notifications were still there (live tiles also fine). How I liked MS right now.
But tomorrow is another day (how I will dislike MS ?).
