Windows live mail on Win 10

Have just got laptop with Win 10 preinstalled . Found its mail program USELESS . No contacts etc etc . Decided to install Live mail . Downloaded the file from MS ( 2012 version ) hit install but it just sits there with blue circle going round and round . Can any one help me install Windows live mail on my laptop. Is Live Mail compatible ? As you can see I am not good with computer phrases so instructions in an idiots language would be good.

Windows Live Mail is absolutely compatible with Windows 10.

I am using it since Windows 7, then Win8/8.1, then Insider Previews, then Windows 10 RTM.
I am not sure why you ran into trouble installing it.

Just one question.............................. Did you use the Microsoft website ?
Here is the link to install Windows Essentials which include many programs, one of which is Windows live Mail.

This is not a solution for you. Just a curious question.
When you began to install Windows Essentials, were you asked to install a Net Framework first ?
I always let it go ahead and install the net framework, then resumed installing WE.

verify your download - should be 130MB for the setup file

the web-setup is 1.18MB and has to download the 130MB file

No. I meant before you began installing Windows Essentials.

Why don't you start it over.
Check the Programs and Features. If Windows Essentials is listed, right cick, click Uninstall.
Go back to the download site and start fresh.

    Marsid,

Windows Live mail will require dotnet 3.5 to work correctly, so make sure you do enable dotnet framework 3.5 in "Turn program features on/off" to enable it. After that go proceed install Windows live mail.
