How can I disable default app for internet browser

Hi, I want to disable thee system from having a preferred application for the browser as I use any one of three at any given time for any reason. However when I click on a link in any of these browsers, The default application launches and it becomes very annoying to find out that it is another program that is running. So, if I have no browser as he default, I should have no issues and I would also be very happy.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

By default.....Edge is the default. Go to settings, apps, default apps and then choose 1 of the 3: choose default apps by file type, choose default apps by protocol, set default apps.

Thanks, but it does not actually give me an option to do what I am asking. I want to set this to a zero/null default. I dislike Edge completely. really not sure about Chrome, Firefox or Opera as they are all trying to be something different all the time. Updates are happening at a rate that even the extensions and themes cannot keep pace with. So, I want nothing as a default. Then I can just use whichever works best at the time I am using it, when I click a hyper link, I don't open a whole new program as is happening now with a default setting locked in.
I hope this is a better explanation of my objective. Jeff

There's no such thing that I've ever heard of, I'm afraid. The nearest would be rt click and Open With where that's available and relevant.

Your only option would be somehow to write a script that is launched by any attempt to trigger a browser that then prompts you as to which browser you'd like to use... but I somehow doubt you'll get round to it.. :)

That certainly wouldn't apply to the case where you're already working in an open browser window.

Figured out a workaround. Install a new browser, set that as default, then uninstall it. After that, Windows will prompt you to pick a browser each time you click a link. However, you will have to uncheck "Always use this app" quite frequently. Can't find a setting in Windows that will allow this.

I tested this yesterday and it worked.

    remove default app

    Also tested this one:

Browser Chooser 2: a different browser of your choice each time

As I said in the other thread it's easier to copy and paste links into whatever browser you decide to launch rather than clicking the links.

Don't know. Probably just wanted to add their solution.
