    Windows 10 1709, Microsoft EDGE problems with many version of AMD Rade


    Windows 10 1709, Microsoft EDGE problems with many version of AMD Radeon Crimson drivers.
    Microsoft EDGE does not open or opens with a grey windows after several seconds.
    All Crimson versions starting with 16.10.3 and 17.xx including Beta 17.40 with driver 23.20.768.9 fail with the same symptom and hanging Microsoft EDGE.
    I have a DELL XPS 8700 with AMD RADEON R9 270, Windows 10 1709 (x64) was installed on 10/17/2017 and did not show the problem, the bug started with the first CRIMSON update to 17.10.03 installed on Windows 10 1709.
    I tried several older Crimson drivers starting with 16.10.3 and above and they all fail the same way including Crimson Beta 17.40 with driver 23.20.768.9.

    To get a driver that works I had to go back to Crimson 16.1 or 16.2 with drivers 15.301.1701.0 or 15.301.1901.0.
    So far those 2 version seem to work fine, non hangs on Microsoft EDGE.
    There is definitely an incompatibility with the latest AMD Crimson drivers and Windows 10 1709 Creator update.
    Any information on a new Driver that takes care of this bug ?

    Fixed my Radeon issues on Dell XPS 8700 Radeon R9 200

    I loaded a new driver available today that fixed these problems on my machine running win 10 1709.
    whql-win10-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-relive-17-11.1-nov10.exe , driver 23.20.788.0 dated 11/2/2017.
    The first time the installation did not complete and got an AMD error 1603, then I followed the suggestions on the AMD error 1603 page and used the amdcleanuputility.exe which I downloaded from AMD using the link suggested in the error page. After the cleanup the installation completed successfully and the problems reported with the Start menu, the task bar and Microsoft Edge are fixed om my Dell XPS 8700 with Radeon R9 200 series. I did several restarts and it always worked fine.

    I assume this whql version may fix the same symptoms reported with AMD drivers in other machines.
