    Desktop Icons

    Hello,
I recently uninstalled IE11 as I do not use it, however after I found that Desktop shortcut icons I had created no longer worked and I could not restore them unless I re- installed IE11.
The icons in question were created from Firefox, is this normal or am I missing something.
    Thanx

Hi, it depends what the shortcuts were for.

If they had a literal path to IE, and you've removed IE via e.g. the Control Panel, Turn Windows Features on or off, then they wouldn't work.

If it's an association problem, and the association remains with IE, then you would need to change the relevant association appropriately.

To help further we'd need to know what the shortcuts were for: e.g. details from rt click, properties, shortcut tab.
Also the icon may be helpful. Please post relevant screenshots. Thanks.

Thanks, it was an association problem, just had to change "open with" in properties to "internet browser" and everything works ok.
