    Firefox Address Bar Suggestions

I have recently deleted my Firefox history, including cookies, cache and everything else. I went back to the beginning of all-time just to make sure there was nothing left.

But I'm still faced with a dilemma, whenever I type a single letter, say R for example, it automatically suggests redtube.com (a porn site). Google search for how to get rid of this leaves me with no answers. Why in the world is it suggesting that I visit a porn site when that site is not in my history or bookmarks?

    Hi AUTiger1

If you click on the three bars, upper right corner of Firefox, then Options, then search on left, then uncheck "Provide search suggestions.

Once you have some history and cookies you likely can reinstate and the suggestions may be more relevant.

OK, so I've just used Firefox Profile Manager to create a new unused profile to test this (run: firefox.exe -p ). Typing 'R' produces no such suggestions.

There may be something more going on here, the fact that it's a porn site is particularly worrying. I would check for malware that may be feeding you these suggestions. I'd try running AdwCleaner.

Yeah, it's already off and this is still happening. Sure my history (what limited it is) is showing up but I don't know why I'm getting any suggestions at all.

I searched and went to the site that the OP speaks of, I still get no such suggestions typing r into the address bar!

    Better do as @Bree suggests!

Did you try shutting off suggestions as I posted?

If you don't want to do that go to rbc.com and rbs.co.uk to build some history and try typing an R in the address / search bar and see if the porn site comes up.

I see AUTigers and I think university Auburn Tigers. Any chance you are located in university town and without history your location is being fed to Google for suggestions.

With a brand new and previously unused Profile I do see suggestions for R, but only built-in generic Mozilla ones.
