I think you'll have to wait for an update to Firefox itself to truly test if it works....
    @Cerawy, time to start testing....

Version 59.0.1, first offered to Release channel users on March 16, 2018

It's just a security fix from what it says.

Major or minor update, it doesn't make any difference to the way it's delivered and installed. This is the first chance to see if your 'silent' FF update works as you wanted.

    Why is that though?

    Going to test it later.

Well i did the same steps in #189 again. Will give it a bit more time this time to see if FF automatically updates the out of date addons.

Post #189: That's just supposed to silently update Firefox (program) without notification. The only noftification that you should get is when you have closed Firefox following a downloaded update - the next time you launch Firefox you get "firefox will start after installing updates" or similar. I don't remember the exact wording.

Program updates and addon updates are not the same thing. Also some updates will never complete without a relaunch

    RE: Addons update.

Check that extensions.update.enabled is set to True in about:config.

and check that extensions.update.autoUpdateDefault is set to True

Use a background service to install updates app.update.service.enabled True

Use Addons Manager to check that each addon is set to update either default setting or on.

Click the "More" button for each addon.

    Check the setting:

Also check the last time an addon was updated by the developer. If not updated by the developer FF addons check will not result in any updates.

Seems a bit exaggarated that you need to make sure that all of these settings are enabled just to let your addons update, but i checked and they are all set to true. I have also tried setting automatic updates to on instead of default, will come back with the results.

With a default installation update addons should check daily but there will be no addon updates if none are available.

Regarding program updates - tested on my work machine using "Use a background service to install updates" and "Automatically install updates (recommended)" works to install program updates. The only notification being on launch when a program update is installed.

I suppose that security software, HOSTS file or Firewall could interfere with updates.

Recent update has resulted in problem during opening pages. It does not open pages properly. Hangs in the middle. After disabling hardware acceleration in options, it works ok. But why this problem.

Lots of people have reported issues with hardware acceleration. I thought they had fixed it with quantum, but guess not.
