So far no lag after reinstalling firefox quantum on fresh.
P.S does anyone know how to get rid of the message that firefox has blocked the acces to a webiste? This happens with harmless, legimate websites and you have to add an exception everytime firefox does it. I googled it but the so called solutions on mozillas websites didnt solve the problem.
It sounds like your Antivirus doing SSL scanning and interfering with the connection or certificate. Or you have some other sort of web filter in place?

Have a look at certificate manager in firefox and check to see if there is a certificate added b your AV. If so you might need to delete it and re-import it.

I use an extension called Smart HTTPS and when I run into one of those sites, I just click on it and add it to the white list.

I dont see WD in that list. Checking and unchecking Query OCSP responder servers to confirm the current validity of certificates didnt solve it. Choosing Select one automatically or Ask every time where FF asks what to do when a server requests your personal certificate didnt solve it as well.

I wouldn't call them problem sites, they are completely harmless websites. One of them was wcreplays.com, a gaming website that i have been using for years without problems.

I only use a handful of websites that I trust, so i dont want FF to interrupt my browsing. I want to disable the message that asks for certificates.

P.S this thread has gotten rather long, so im going to refresh it by summarizing the few remaining issues.

    • The minimum font size feature only works on some websites. Some websites becomes completely messed up.
    • Sometimes firefox blocks harmless websites and you have to click on add an exception to get access to the website.
    • I want to disable the crash reporter pop-up window without sending any information to mozilla.
    • The menu button and back button has changed color to white, so its almost impossible to see the buttons. This is caused by this XP luna theme. It also seems to change the toolbar color from blue to black randomly sometimes. I want to keep the luna XP theme though.
    • Firefox doesn't update my addons automatically.
    • Disable the page actions button in the top right corner.
    • Disable the drop down arrow that opens a list of previously visited websites.

P.S What are some good security settings and addons for FF?

So far i am using tracking protection, i have checked send websites a “do not track” signal that you don't want to be tracked, and i have checked all the options in deceptive content and dangerous software protection.

    Anything else?

Well i can visit that site but get a mixed content warning. Insecure content on secure page but the site isn't blocked.

I used to use a lot of decent FF addons but most of those won't work in Quantum. If interested in any of these let me know.

    Code:
    Extensions

    Version: 0.4.4b
    Enabled: true
    ID: CanvasBlocker@kkapsner.de

If you choose to remember history then you'd need to untick "Browsing history" in address bar search options.

RE: Fonts. Choosing your own fonts and sizes will mess up some sites. You can uncheck the following and refresh the page on those sites.

I reckon you have a SSL certificate problem. Close Firefox and rename cert8.db to cert8.old then relaunch firefox. See if that helps.

Completely overlooked that checkbox. Does it get rid of this annoying message as well?

I don't get any pop up. There's a ton of about:config tweaks that I use but too many to post here and explain in detail.

RE: Forward/ Back buttons. You'd need to create then modify userChrome.css but it's not straightforward.

    Download and some instructions here:

List of features available in this project · Issue #2 · Aris-t2/CustomCSSforFx · GitHub

Basically extract files into the Chrome folder you create in your profile then modify userchrome.css using notepad.

You can preview buttons in the images folder:

When editing the user chrome.css file:

ENABLING options: remove the combination of / and * before '@import'.
DISABLING options: add the combination of / and * before '@import'.

So for the back/ forward buttons in the screenshot I posted earlier:

Edit the file then save it.
